Zara

Mixed Breed · Unknown

Zara and Rickyvel came into our care together from Jakabszállás, thanks to the cooperation of the gamekeeper. Unfortunately, we know very little about their previous lives. They were caught together, and they’ve probably been wandering around together for quite some time. Zara is a beautiful little girl with a smaller build, reminiscent of a husky. At first meeting, she was still somewhat shy and reserved, but it quickly became clear that she longs for human closeness. She loves being petted, happily welcomes kind attention, and with a bit of patience, she’s starting to open up nicely. She’s not yet fully accustomed to wearing a leash, as we don’t know what kind of life she led before. Everything is new to her, so she needs a patient, understanding owner who can help her gradually experience what a safe, loving home feels like. We’re looking for a family for Zara who understands the needs and characteristics of husky-type dogs. Although it’s not certain that she’s purebred, she clearly exhibits the breed’s traits in both appearance and temperament; therefore, it’s crucial that her future owner be prepared for proper training, consistency, sufficient exercise, and mental stimulation. If you feel you could be the one to show Zara what real family life is all about, come meet her in person—this sweet, love-seeking young lady is waiting to finally find her forever home.

HU·Show original

Zara Rickyvel együtt került a gondozásunkba Jakabszállásról, a mezőőr közreműködésének köszönhetően.

About Zara

What life with Zara looks like

Zara is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Állatvédelmi Centrum in Hungary.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇭🇺Adopting from Hungary

Hungarian shelters operate at high capacity given the country's stray population. Animals leave sterilized, chipped, and with a passport. Many shelters coordinate transport to Germany, Austria, and the Nordics.

Frequently asked

Adopting Zara, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Zara?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Állatvédelmi Centrum handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Zara on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Zara if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Állatvédelmi Centrum will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Zara already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Zara isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Állatvédelmi Centrum early rather than rehoming privately; they know Zara and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HU). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
