Adopt Zelda

Cane Corso · Female · Young · 3 years

Meet Zelda! Zelda is a beautiful Cane Corso girl who would win over any heart she comes into contact with! She would be great for a family who are eager to do some training as she has a growing list of tricks that she knows: sit, down, paw, spin, middle, stay, wait.. you name it, she can do it! ( or at least try ). We do not have much information on her background but she is fully housetrained and clearly loves to be around people. She has a golden personality, where she will try and soak up as many fusses as she possibly can. When she first arrived, Zelda was a little unsure of unfamiliar faces, but now she truly is adorable and becomes friends with new people very quickly! Tennis balls are the best way to her heart as she will play and play and play all day long if she could. Zelda will be looking for dedicated owners who will help find her paws after being in a kennel environment. Her new owners may have to be patient initially as she settles in but we are sure with her addictive personality she will become the best dog friend to any family or single owner. She will need new owners with some experience or knowledge of the breed, who understand basic dog body language when it comes to dog to dog socialising. She would be best suited to being the only dog in the home as she can be quite boisterous around other dogs and lacks some manners when she is offlead. She is excelling in her training, and is looking for someone who is invested in teaching her great focus to handler and recall around other dogs. If you have already completed our online rehoming form and would like to know more about Zelda, you can e-mail our rehoming team on to register your interest.

About Zelda

What life with Zelda looks like

Zelda is a large young adult cane corso dog waiting at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home in London.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Zelda, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Zelda?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Battersea Dogs & Cats Home handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Zelda on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Zelda if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Battersea Dogs & Cats Home will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Zelda already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Zelda isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Battersea Dogs & Cats Home early rather than rehoming privately; they know Zelda and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
