Adopt Zero

Male · Young · 1 year

He is a dog who needs time, respect, and understanding. He's not a dog for just anyone, but for the right person, he can be a wonderful dog. It's important to clarify that he can walk with anyone without a problem; he lets you put him on a leash and go for a walk without needing a prior bond. Where he does need trust is in direct handling. When he doesn't yet know the person well, he doesn't tolerate excessive handling, having his space invaded, or having his food touched. He may react by biting if he feels uncomfortable. Once he forms a bond, he is a friendly, even affectionate dog, eager to play. Therefore, he is not suitable for living with small children. We are looking for a quiet home with people who have had or currently have (submissive) dogs and who understand that respecting his boundaries is the key to earning his trust.

About Zero

What life with Zero looks like

Zero is a young adult dog waiting at Protectora Oriolana in Spain.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee (typically €250–€400 for a dog, €100–€180 for a cat). Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting Zero, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Zero?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Protectora Oriolana handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Zero on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Zero if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Protectora Oriolana will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Zero already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Zero isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Protectora Oriolana early rather than rehoming privately; they know Zero and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (ES). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
