Adopt Zeus

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 3 years

Zeus is a lively Boxer mix, enjoys walks and play, he loves the ball, he's silly and can get excited quickly because he loves it so much. He has solid training foundations, knows 'sit' and is house trained. He can be cautious with certain men and protect his owner. Attention if there is a garden, the fence needs to be high enough, he can have a nice leap. Fee of 270€ including identification, sterilization, first vaccination, internal and external deworming. No dogs in the shelter, can get along on walks with cool dogs. No cats in the shelter. Arrived at the shelter in October 2024. Weight: 21 kg Click here, pre-adoption questionnaire. There's love in the air. In this month dedicated to the heart, staff and volunteers came up with a tender gesture to highlight the animal they would have chosen to love for life, if they had the chance. "At each of our outings you amaze me with your intelligence, with your joy when you sniffed an odor, with your little moments of madness, with your duo with the ball 'doudou' to comfort yourself and to play without limits. For you my Zeus." Carine Heartwarming pick of the week My little Zeus, what are you doing here? You must wonder yourself... You arrived once before when you were a 5-month-old pup and quickly found a home. Unfortunately 7 months later, here you are again, to your great sorrow. What did you do to return to the shelter, you ask yourself and you don't understand. You're lost, yet you listened to your human: "sit" you sit, "shake" you shake, "slowly" you slow down during walks, "stop" you stop, "wait" you wait, "fetch" you fetch the ball and nothing else... You love interacting with your human, whether on walks or in play, you always seek connection, and if that human gives you a treat, then you are the happiest. You are more or less responsive to other dogs... after all, we can't love and feel comfortable with all our kind, can we Zeus? The human forgot that he himself didn't like all his kind, so why expect it to be different for you... My little Zeus you are smart, you understand quickly, you just lack the words to communicate with us, you try your best to send us your messages but we don't always understand you and it frustrates you as much as us. Zeus you are increasingly struggling with life in the box, you need so much interaction with your human. If you want to create a strong bond with a dog, come meet Zeus outside of his box and he will show you who he really is. Dear Santa, I am Zeus, the god of the ball, as fast as lightning, in a snap of my fingers I go get it and bring it back to continue the game. At 2 years old I am a bundle of love, close to humans, very affectionate, I never say no to a cuddle session, I enjoy every second. I am gentle and calm, on walks I don't pull, I take my time, always looking at my human, a little thank you and we continue. I am very obedient, I listen when spoken to, I know several commands like sit, wait, shake, fetch, give and I love learning more tricks! I am very social with humans, from babies to adults, however, in my future home, there shouldn't be other animals.

About Zeus

What life with Zeus looks like

Zeus is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at SPA du Gers in France.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Zeus, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Zeus?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SPA du Gers handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Zeus on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Zeus if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SPA du Gers will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Zeus already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Zeus isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SPA du Gers early rather than rehoming privately; they know Zeus and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
