Adopt Zeus

Spanish Mastiff · Male

and as you can see, I didn't get my name for nothing with 60 kg of Mastín power. I was rescued from a dog pound. I don't know much about my past, but now I'm only looking forward – maybe directly into your home? I am a very social and balanced dog. I love people, and I always enjoy company. At first, I can sometimes be a bit boisterous and clumsy. Well, it's easy to happen at my size, but I'm trainable and willing to work on it. I get along very well with other male dogs. Female dogs are great too. Cats and children? That hasn't been tested yet, but with my friendly nature, the chances are good. I can travel in the car without any problems and my energy level is medium to high. This means I love walks, exercise, and being outdoors with people who enjoy the same. Afterwards, I also enjoy relaxed downtime and cuddles. A home with people who have experience with flock guardian dogs, have plenty of space, and are able to consistently raise an independent character like me would be ideal. If you recognize yourself in this description and are looking for a loyal companion with a big heart and an even bigger body, then I might just be the perfect match for you.

About Zeus

What life with Zeus looks like

Zeus is a medium-sized adult spanish mastiff dog waiting at Aktion Tierisch Happy e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Zeus, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Zeus?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Aktion Tierisch Happy e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Zeus on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Zeus if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Aktion Tierisch Happy e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Zeus already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Zeus isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Aktion Tierisch Happy e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Zeus and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
