Adopt Joselito

Male

Test for Mediterranean diseases: Anaplasmosis and leishmaniasis positive. A small Pinscher with a big heart and about 6 kg of pure joy. And I won't let anyone take that from me! Yes, I've already been through a lot. They just left me out – door open, dog out, door closed… and gone. But you know what? I've decided not to let that get to me. Instead, I'm enjoying every day even more now. I'm a cheerful, curious little guy who loves people above all else. Cuddles? Always! Play? Even better! I'm friendly to everyone, whether other dogs (male or female dogs) or children. With cats, I'm not sure yet, we'll have to see. On a leash, I walk nicely, driving is no problem for me at all, and my energy level is just right: active enough for small adventures, but also relaxed enough for cozy cuddle hours. Health-wise, I bring a few topics: I tested positive for leishmaniasis, a Mediterranean disease, but it's treatable with medication and adjusted nutrition. Additionally, I have anaplasmosis, which is currently being treated with antibiotics. And then there's my little special feature: under my chin, there's this fun, saliva-filled "pouch," a kind of double chin. 😉 It's still being examined more closely, but it doesn't bother me at all. I just take life as it comes. What I still need now is a home. A place where I'm allowed to arrive. Where I'm loved and can stay forever. Upon arrival, I am vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and have my EU pet passport.

Aber weißt du was?

About Joselito

What life with Joselito looks like

Joselito is a large adult dog waiting at Aktion Tierisch Happy e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Joselito, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Joselito?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Aktion Tierisch Happy e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Joselito on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Joselito if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Aktion Tierisch Happy e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Joselito already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Joselito isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Aktion Tierisch Happy e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Joselito and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
