Zicco

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 2 years

Description Zicco originally came from a Romanian shelter in Radauti, which was closed down by the authorities in late August 2024. Zicco has now developed into a very cheerful, open-minded dog. He is a playful companion with a magical "smile." He trusts people more and more. With people he already knows, he plays and can be petted anywhere. The little stray enjoys cuddles very much. In the evenings, he snuggles up to his family on the couch and relishes the warmth and closeness. He now also initiates being petted, coming from within and showing that he wants to be stroked. With strangers, he needs a bit of time to warm up. But this is getting better too. He then quickly takes treats and is curious. Zicco goes into the garden alone and comes back in when called. He also likes to stay outside sometimes, even when the other two dogs are already back in the house. Zicco has become much more self-assured. The dogs now play and frolic in the garden, and Zicco has a lot of fun playing with the two girls. Zicco is house-trained. Even when he is alone for up to 6 hours (which occasionally happens), he is fine. At night, he sleeps deeply and soundly. When the other two dogs go for a walk, Zicco stays very well on his own. He gets something to chew and is then content. Here, Zicco still isn't entirely comfortable with the collar being put on him for double safety, and he backs away when it is put on. But progress is being made; he sniffs the collar and no longer runs away as soon as it is in hand. This will surely soon be something he can do, so his foster parent can take him for walks too. He is now so relaxed in the foster home that he even barks when he doesn't recognize the visitors, but he is quickly calmed down and then remains quiet. It would be wonderful if Zicco could find a "Forever Home" where he can lead a happy and contented dog life. (was ausnahmsweise Mal vorkommt) alleine ist. About Zicco

What life with Zicco looks like

Zicco is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierischgeholfen e.V. in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Zicco, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Zicco?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierischgeholfen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Zicco on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Zicco if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierischgeholfen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Zicco already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Zicco isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierischgeholfen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Zicco and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
