Zicke

European Shorthair · Female · Adult · 9 years

Zicke - affectionate, quirky, and with very clear ideas. ❤️ Zicke may not have been named by chance. 😄 She is a young female cat who knows exactly what she wants - and especially what she doesn't want. Zicke can be a real cuddly cat. ❤️ She enjoys closeness and petting - as long as her humans can read her body language and accept when she says: "Up to here and now please stop." Who respects her boundaries and doesn't just cuddle over them without asking, will learn a completely different side of her. 🥰 Zicke is a bit quirky - and that's why we are looking for cat-experienced people who don't expect a cat to always let them do anything. People who perceive subtle signals, give her choices, and appreciate a cat with personality. 🐾 🐱 Zicke wants to be a single princess and not share her home with other cats. 👧 Children should not live in the household. 🌿 In her new home, we would also like a secured balcony. Who is looking for a cat that just "works" will probably not be happy with Zicke. Who is in the mood to really get to know a cat, take her boundaries seriously, and earn her trust, might find a pretty great roommate in this beautiful little personality. ❤️

DE·Show original

About Zicke

What life with Zicke looks like

Zicke is a adult european shorthair cat waiting at Tierheim Gelsenkirchen in Gelsenkirchen.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Zicke, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Zicke?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Gelsenkirchen handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Zicke on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Zicke if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Gelsenkirchen will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Zicke already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Zicke isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Gelsenkirchen early rather than rehoming privately; they know Zicke and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
