Adopt Ziggy

Beagle · Female · Senior · 11 years

16-05-26 Ziggy is a delightful girl who originally arrived with us in 2018. She was adopted into a home but was sadly returned to us in 2023 after her owner went into care. She then found a lovely family home, but has sadly been returned once more through no fault of her own due to a change in circumstances. Poor Ziggy has been so unlucky, but despite this she is a happy girl and we are determined that her next home will be her forever home. She has settled back into rescue life well, but she is clearly missing her home comforts and we would love to see her back in a home as soon as possible. She has the most wonderful, friendly nature and thinks every person she meets is a potential new best friend! She loves company and has been spending her days in the office, soaking up all the love and attention she can get. She is very content to spend her day sleeping at your feet and snoring like a little baby warthog. Ziggy has always lived as an only dog, and though she gets on well with other dogs, she wouldn't want to share her home with another dog and would prefer to have the love and affection for herself. She could be homed with gentle dog savvy children. She will be looking for adopters who are around most of the time and have plenty of time to spend with her. She can pine a little when left alone, so her new adopters will need to work on this with her and slowly build up the time she is left. As Ziggy has come to us from a home, she is familiar with the sights and sounds of a home environment. However, she may need a little reminder with some house training skills as she settles into a new routine and environment. Ziggy can already walk on a lead and will love to go on gentle walks and adventures with her new family. She has arrived overweight, so she will need a healthy diet and gentle exercise to help her reach and maintain a healthier weight. Her new adopters will need to continue managing this in her forever home. We are also told by her previous owners that she can be prone to urinary tract infections, although she does not currently have one. Her previous family shared that Ziggy loves snoozing on the sofa and even sleeping on the bed. She is a very clever little dog who has learnt how to open baby gates, and she is extremely food motivated, so much so that bins may need to be kept safely out of reach! She has happily lived around cats and rabbits and is not bothered by them. Ziggy loves Nylabones and her previous adopters mentioned she can be possessive around them, so this is something her new adopters will need to work with her on and for this reason we would only consider homing her with older, dog savvy teenagers. She can also be startled by loud noises such as the hoover or hairdryer. Ziggy is a truly wonderful little dog with a very sweet nature, and she will make a lovely companion for a family who can offer her plenty of company, understanding, and love. She needs to find her forever home now. This dog can be homed with cats.

About Ziggy

What life with Ziggy looks like

Ziggy is a senior beagle dog waiting at Many Tears Animal Rescue in Llanelli.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ziggy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ziggy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Many Tears Animal Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ziggy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ziggy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Many Tears Animal Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ziggy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ziggy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Many Tears Animal Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ziggy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
