adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Ziggy has found his family! His story: Sometimes, animal welfare requires a healthy dose of luck! This luck also accompanied Ziggys dog mom Franzi. Pregnant, she was found on the Romanian streets and was brought to a private foster home by our Romanian animal rescuer Anna. There, she could give birth to Ziggy and his siblings in peace and safety. All the puppies are now big enough and can make their way into their forever family. As a puppy, Ziggy still has the whole dog life ahead of him. He is typical for a puppy, playful, curious, and open to people and fellow animals. In Anna's foster home, some cats also live. So Ziggy is already familiar with them. Ziggys mom is only about 38 cm tall. Thus, the male dog is expected to grow to be rather small to medium-sized. With a puppy, you can experience and accompany the dog life from the start. A puppy needs mainly love, care, patience, and no expectations. Puppies should not be left alone for as much of their first year as possible. Once Ziggy can settle into his forever family at his own pace, he will surely fit in well with you. Ziggys mom still doesn't know what house training, leash manners, or a recall mean. Here, he needs dog parents who can show him, at an appropriate pace, what everything means for his new dog life. It can always happen that things don't go as you wish. You can read and learn as much as you can. In case of uncertainties, it can always help to work with experienced dog trainers from the start. Regular visits to dog training classes can be a great help in becoming a good human-dog team. Ziggy still has to learn the whole dog ABC and will eventually enter puberty. In this often very wild phase, he will likely test boundaries and sometimes forget what he has learned. During this time, it is important to master this period together with loving consistency. Patience and a good dose of humor are always a great help. Ziggy travels vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and treated for fleas. He is not yet neutered according to his age. We thank Mrs. Reich with all our hearts for giving Ziggy a name and thus his identity. As of: 16.07.

In Annas Pflegestelle leben außerdem einige Katzen. Stand: 16.07.2024

About Ziggy

What life with Ziggy looks like

Ziggy is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ziggy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ziggy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ziggy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ziggy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ziggy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ziggy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ziggy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
