Adopt Ziggy

Mixed Breed · Male

BackgroundDue to a less than ideal home situation, Ziggy was brought to our animal shelter. PersonalityZiggy is a handsome young man who enjoys challenges and adventures. He really likes playing with fishing rods and balls and shows great enthusiasm during playtime. Going out on adventures also appeals to him greatly; spotting mice in the garden is exactly his thing.Ziggy is an independent cat with a clear character. He likes to cuddle, but decides himself when it's enough. He knows what he wants and enjoys a home where he can be himself. PlacementFor Ziggy we are looking for a home with a secure garden where he can run and play freely. An outdoor environment is really a must for him. He gets along well with older children. He also has no problems with dogs; he is brave enough to stand his ground. Other cats also present no problem, especially if they are as playful and active as he is. Naturally, a proper introduction must first be applied.

Enkel in België

About Ziggy

What life with Ziggy looks like

Ziggy is a adult mixed breed cat waiting at Dierenasiel Sint-Truiden in Sint-Truiden.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇧🇪Adopting from Belgium

Belgian shelters operate under regional law (Flanders, Wallonia, Brussels each have their own rules). All adoptions include the Eurochip, vaccinations, and a stewardship contract. Several Flemish shelters partner with Dutch and German rescue networks.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ziggy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ziggy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dierenasiel Sint-Truiden handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ziggy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ziggy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dierenasiel Sint-Truiden will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ziggy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ziggy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dierenasiel Sint-Truiden early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ziggy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
