adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Zippi has found a home! His story: Zippi and his siblings Winja, Bazil, Annegret, Bonsi, and Zoe were found on the street with their mother, just two months old. Near the Bistrita train station, the owner of a nearby house observed the litter of puppies and their mother until one day he heard the puppies whining and barking, left alone. We suspect that the mother was tragically killed by a train or something similar, leaving the puppies vulnerable. The Romanian finder could not locate the mother anywhere and brought the defenseless puppies to the shelter in Bistrita. With his small "cheeky dimples," Zippi is a truly sweet male dog. He looks like a small, fluffy teddy bear with light fur and dark markings. Later, he will grow into a medium to large-sized dog. Just like his siblings, Zippi was born without a tail. Therefore, he cannot be rehomed to Switzerland. Zippi is a very friendly and trusting male dog who seeks contact with people. He also loves to play and wrestle with his siblings. He could also be a good second dog, as he gets along well with other dogs and can easily adapt to new situations in his young age. Unfortunately, a compatibility test with cats could not be conducted. His new family should be aware that Zippi is still unfamiliar with life in a loving family. He still needs to learn the whole puppy ABC and is yet to go through puberty. Here, he needs people who can approach with love and patience, and possibly attend some positively working dog training classes with him, and forgive him for any mishaps. Leash walking, house training, and being left alone are still foreign concepts to him. During puberty, he will surely test boundaries and may even forget some things he has learned. But once this phase is overcome, Zippi will definitely be a great lifelong partner. Zippi is microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas. He brings an EU pet passport and can be rehomed after a positive foster home experience. We would be very happy to have a foster home for the sweet boy! Who will give him a loving forever home? Many thanks to Ilana! You named Zippi. Date: 16.01.

Vielen Dank an Ilana! Du hast Zippi seinen Namen geschenkt. About Zippi

What life with Zippi looks like

Zippi is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Zippi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Zippi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Zippi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Zippi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Zippi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Zippi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Zippi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
