adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Zita can stay forever in your foster home! Her story: Zita made it through the first hurdle and was allowed to travel to her foster home. Now, our beauty awaits her forever home! She was found with her sisters without a mother. Zita stands out with her four white paws and her bent ears, making her simply irresistibly cute. Zita is still a bit shy but super loving, always friendly towards people, and never aggressive. In her foster home, she is almost gaining trust. The cats no longer bother her either. At first, Zita barked and growled at the cats. She can already walk on a leash, but more practice is needed. She is still unsure outside. All the new impressions still scare her. She is getting better every day and is opening up more every day. Zita still needs to learn how fun a walk in the woods, a playful game in the garden, or relaxed snuggling on the couch can be. Zita is currently 5 months old and will likely grow to be medium-sized. She is currently about 45-48 cm tall. Her new family should be aware that Zita is still unfamiliar with life in a loving family. She still needs to learn the whole puppy ABC, and puberty is in full swing. She needs people who can approach her with love and patience, and possibly attend some positively working dog training classes with her and forgive her one or two mishaps. Leash walking, house training, and being alone are still foreign concepts to her, even though these skills are already practiced in her foster home. During puberty, she will certainly test boundaries and may even forget some things she has learned. But once this phase is overcome, Zita will definitely make a great lifelong companion. We hope so much that she can now experience the beautiful sides of life and learn that there are people who only want her best. Zita is microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated. She brings an EU pet passport and can be adopted after a positive assessment. Who will give Zita a loving forever home? Many thanks to Elke! You named Zita Stand: 02.07.

Vielen Dank an Elke! Du hast Zita Ihren Namen geschenkt Stand: 02.07.2024

About Zita

What life with Zita looks like

Zita is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Zita, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Zita?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Zita on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Zita if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Zita already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Zita isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Zita and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
