Zoe

Mixed Breed · Unknown

When you see the little bundle of fur looking into the camera with big, round eyes, you just want to do one thing—take the puppy into your arms, love, cuddle, and never let go again. But our Zoe comes from an area where she certainly didn't have a loving home. Her owners are more known for selling the offspring born in dark cellar holes for a high price or using the helpless babies as so-called "bait dogs" to prepare other sad souls for illegal dogfights. Zoe luckily escaped this fate—and anyone who has already managed that is surely looking forward to a great future. Zoe is now staying at the animal boarding house of our friends in Huelva—and naturally, the cute princess has won over all the people with a masterful glance. The little one is a very amusing sight and the guessing game about what might be hidden in her gene pool is already an evening full of mental stimulation. The Bodeguero influence is definitely undeniable, but then any speculation from Pug to Chihuahua to Fox Terrier is possible. No matter what is hidden in the pedigree of this sweet little mouse, she is definitely a purebred gem in character. Zoe is very clingy and people-oriented. She observes very attentively and learns quickly. She finds playing and running fantastic and would love to never stop, but if you're as small as the princess, you also need to sleep a lot. The smart sugar face now urgently needs a permanent home where she can start her career as a family dog. She's waiting impatiently to lovingly blow into her new two-legged friends' ears as a greeting, to finally snuggle contentedly in her very own dog bed, and to run beside her beloved humans on long walks with short legs and flying ears.

DE·Show original

About Zoe

What life with Zoe looks like

Zoe is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. in Gernsbach.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Zoe, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Zoe?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Zoe on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Zoe if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Zoe already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Zoe isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Zoe and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
