Zoey

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 2 years

Zoey - small mixed-breed female dog seeks people with patience and heart Zoey is a small female dog weighing about 4 kg, who is currently living in a foster home in Germany. There, it becomes clear that the world is still quite big for the little mouse. Zoey loves the closeness to her humans, enjoys petting and loves to be picked up. At the same time, it appears that she has not had much experience in her previous life and has probably experienced many things from a safe height. Therefore, new situations can still unsettle and sometimes even frighten her. In everyday life, she is quite uncomplicated. Normal household noises and the vacuum cleaner do not impress her much. In stressful situations, she sometimes prefers to withdraw, but can be easily called back to her humans. Zoey is very social with other dogs. She lives with four dogs of different ages and sizes on her foster home and likes to be close to her fellow dogs. A confident dog by her side could also help her gain security in her new home. If another dog is present, she already manages to stay alone well. She also gets along great with a teenager. Zoey needs people who show her the world step by step and give her security without overwhelming her. She needs to learn that new things are not automatically dangerous and that she can handle many things on her own. We wish Zoey a quiet home with people who have patience and empathy. She is not looking for a home where she is just carried around, but people who show her how nice it can be to discover the world on her own and just be a dog. Dogs are not accessories: Despite her size, the sweetness is a real dog with real needs and she is looking exclusively for people who are aware of this and respect and take her seriously accordingly. Whoever gives Zoey the necessary time will probably experience how the cautious little dog gradually becomes an increasingly self-confident companion. Here you can watch Zoey's video

About Zoey

What life with Zoey looks like

Zoey is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Zoey, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Zoey?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Zoey on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Zoey if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Zoey already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Zoey isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Zoey and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
