adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Zohra has found her home! Her story: For almost four years, Zohra has been waiting – for her ticket to happiness, for her people, for a home where she can finally belong. As a little puppy, she came to the private shelter and has known only that life there. While other dogs came and went, Zohra stayed behind – quiet, patient, and with a gaze that goes straight to the heart. Zohra is about 4 years old and approximately 55–60 cm tall. She is a gentle, calm, and loving female dog who greatly enjoys the company of familiar people. With strangers, she is initially a bit shy, but once she has gained their trust, she shows her big heart: affectionate, clingy, and incredibly cuddly. When Zohra is happy, she can also be different – then she runs around the run with boundless joy and energy. She gets along wonderfully with other dogs, as she has always lived in a large pack and is very well socialized. Unfortunately, she has only had limited exposure to the world so far. Her everyday life consists of shelter life – heat, cold, rain, mud, and the same run every day. But we are sure: With love, patience, and some time, Zohra will develop into a loyal companion who will give her whole heart to her family. A house with a garden would be paradise for her – a place where she can feel safe and slowly settle in. A visit to a positively working dog training class would also help her to gain trust and learn about the new life. Zohra has a shortened tail, which is why she cannot be rehomed to Switzerland. She is vaccinated, microchipped, neutered, dewormed, and treated for fleas in her new home and of course brings her EU pet passport with her.

About Zohra

What life with Zohra looks like

Zohra is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Zohra, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Zohra?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Zohra on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Zohra if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Zohra already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Zohra isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Zohra and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
