Zoi

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 9 years

Mixed-breed Zoi—a sweet soul finally finds her forever home. The charming mixed-breed dog Zoi is almost ten years old. For far too long, she had to wait in a Bulgarian animal shelter for her chance at a new life. Now, she’s finally been able to travel to Germany to a foster home—and every single day, she shows just how wonderful a dog she truly is. Zoi is an exceptionally loving, calm, and easygoing dog who adapts effortlessly to everyday life. She’s house-trained, walks nicely on a leash, and meets her surroundings with composure. She gets along wonderfully with other dogs and also absolutely loves children. At her foster home, she even lives harmoniously alongside chickens and ducks, and cats pose no challenge for her either. Zoi would feel most comfortable in a rather rural, quiet home. At first, she’s still a bit shy around men, but with a little patience and gentle handling, she warms up and begins to trust. A garden would be a real dream come true for Zoi. She loves spending time outdoors, enjoys observing her surroundings, and relishes the fresh air. At the same time, she always wants her people close by. Therefore, an ideal home would allow her to decide for herself whether she’d like to stay inside or go out into the garden—simply stepping outside whenever she feels like it, and just as naturally returning to her humans. Zoi isn’t one of those dogs who likes to make a big fuss or constantly be the center of attention. She’s a loyal companion with a gentle nature who simply wants to belong. After all these years of waiting, we couldn’t wish for anything more than for her to find people who will show her just how beautiful a loving home can be. Who will give this wonderful lady dog the golden years of her life that she so richly deserves? Click here to watch Zoi’s video.

About Zoi

What life with Zoi looks like

Zoi is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Zoi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Zoi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Zoi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Zoi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Zoi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Zoi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Zoi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
