Zorro

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 2 years

Maine Coon mix tomcat (ataxia) Zorro, born in August 2024, is a beautiful Maine Coon mix with medium-length fur and a truly special character. He’s currently living at a foster home, waiting for people who can give him time, love, and plenty of cuddle sessions. If you’d like to adopt a cuddly tomcat who absolutely loves being close to his humans, then Zorro could be just the right match for you. At first, Zorro needs a bit of time to build trust. But once he’s won your heart, he’ll never get enough closeness. When cuddling, he loves to be as close as possible and thoroughly enjoys every petting session. Since he sometimes gets a little too enthusiastic with joy and accidentally extends his claws in the process, we’d like him to go to a home with older, understanding children. Zorro knows dogs and gets along well with other cats. Therefore, he won’t be placed in single-cat housing but rather with an already social cat or together with a suitable feline companion. Zorro has a mild form of ataxia. When he’s excited, his head tends to wobble slightly. The cause is damage to the cerebellum that occurred during fetal development. However, this particular condition doesn’t impair him in his daily life. Zorro is full of life, loves playing, and thoroughly enjoys his life to the fullest. He’s just a bit more cautious when climbing than other cats. Of course, we’re happy to provide interested parties with detailed advice on this topic. For Zorro, we’d like to recommend: Since Zorro can’t climb as safely due to his mild ataxia, he should live exclusively indoors.

About Zorro

What life with Zorro looks like

Zorro is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Pfötchenhilfe Loisachtal e.V. in Benediktbeuern.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Zorro, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Zorro?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Pfötchenhilfe Loisachtal e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Zorro on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Zorro if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Pfötchenhilfe Loisachtal e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Zorro already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Zorro isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Pfötchenhilfe Loisachtal e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Zorro and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
