Zuko

adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal!Zuko has found his luck! His story: Black & White in its most beautiful form. This is the sweet Zuko with the blue eye. Zuko and his sister Nehemia were discovered by children of a children's home in a box. Abandoned and left to themselves. At the time, the two were just five weeks old and still needed to be nursed. That's when the pictures were taken. What a stroke of luck for the two that the children were so attentive. Now the little ones are in the safety of our animal rescuer Diana's care and are growing and thriving. Zuko is a charming little puppy who gets along well with other dogs. Whether that also applies to cats, we don't know. When fully grown, he will likely be medium-sized. It's hard to say what breeds are in him, he is a true, purebred stray. Zuko is looking for people who don't expect anything from him at first and show him how a normal dog life works. He is still a baby and has a lot to learn. Sometimes a mishap shouldn't be held against him and he should always be guided with a positive reinforcement training style. He is looking forward to his new life with beautiful nature walks, many snuggling hours, and also a visit to puppy school. Puppies should not be left alone as much as possible in their first year of life. And then there is also the time when small, sweet babies become rebels who feel like giants and their world suddenly turns upside down. It's called puberty and dogs and their people get hit with it just as cold as we know it from children and their parents. Synapses in the brain go on a rollercoaster ride and the dear little ones forget everything they've learned so far. Therefore, it is especially important to consistently – but lovingly – train during this phase. And there is also good news: This phase will pass! Zuko travels microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated with his EU pet passport in his luggage. Even a foster home would be a good start to a happy dog life. Thanks, Diana! You gave the charming little Zuko a name and thus an identity. As of: 06.07.

Stand: 06.07.2025

About Zuko

What life with Zuko looks like

Zuko is a extra-large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Zuko, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Zuko?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Zuko on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Zuko if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Zuko already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Zuko isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Zuko and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
