Mixed Breed · Male

🐾 Joey – sensitive, active and full of zest for life 🐾 Joey's start in life was anything but fair. As a young dog, he was simply abandoned and tied to a tree by his former owner. Completely frightened and alone, he was found and came into our care at around six months old. The rest of his childhood was spent in an animal shelter. There, he slowly learned to trust people again, make new friendships, and find his way in a world that had left him so early. But then came the turning point: Joey was adopted together with his best friend Zsömle by a loving person. For three years, the two experienced what it means to be truly loved – with daily walks, closeness, security, and a firm place in a small family. After the sudden death of their adopter, unfortunately Joey and Zsömle had to return to us. It was a shock – for them and for us. Joey has changed – yet, at his core, he remains the same. He is a slender, athletic male dog whose physique almost resembles that of a small greyhound. Inside him lies much energy, but also a deep longing for affection and closeness. He actively seeks contact with humans, loves cuddles, and delights in any form of attention. Compared to Zsömle, Joey shows more self-confidence, is livelier, enthusiastic, and endowed with a more lively disposition. We would very much hope that Joey and Zsömle can move to a new home together. Their bond has grown deep; they provide each other support and make each other shine.

About 👉Zurück

What life with 👉Zurück looks like

👉Zurück is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Hundepfoten Steinfurt e.V. in Nordwalde.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting 👉Zurück, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about 👉Zurück?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hundepfoten Steinfurt e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw 👉Zurück on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt 👉Zurück if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hundepfoten Steinfurt e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is 👉Zurück already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if 👉Zurück isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hundepfoten Steinfurt e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know 👉Zurück and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
