Zuzia

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 3 years

In July 2023, we rescued two identical female dogs. Both were abandoned in the commune of Cieszków, in places distant from each other, so obviously someone driving a car threw one out, and after a few kilometers, the other. They were only half a year old then, now almost 3 years old :( Both had bad experiences with people or none at all. We have worked a lot with the dogs at the animal shelter, but greater progress is possible in quiet, home conditions. In the photos Zuzia - a little, charming, but still with problems. She has mastered the leash and gladly goes for walks. However, she still doesn't like touch, doesn't allow grooming, and doesn't fully trust humans. The animal shelter is full of emotions and these need to be released somewhere, so sometimes Zuzia nips a volunteer's calf in emotions ;) She is small, so she won't hurt anyone, but it's sad to see a dog who doesn't feel comfortable in such a crowded place. Zuzia needs a quiet home, preferably with another open dog who can support her and show proper relationships with humans. She needs space to build these relationships, understanding and patience. We encourage you to meet Zuzia at the animal shelter, we will tell you more about her, teach you how to deal with Zuzia when the adoption decision is made. W lipcu 2023 roku odłowiliśmy dwie, identyczne suczki. About Zuzia

What life with Zuzia looks like

Zuzia is a small young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko Krotoszyn in Krotoszyn.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Zuzia, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Zuzia?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Krotoszyn handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Zuzia on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Zuzia if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Krotoszyn will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Zuzia already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Zuzia isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Krotoszyn early rather than rehoming privately; they know Zuzia and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
