Thelma & Louis fueron capturados por nuestro equipo de Búsqueda y Rescate con trampas, ya que habían sido reportados durante mucho tiempo como corriendo sin humanos en un gran campo cerca de una zona concurrida de Puerto Banus. Tomó un tiempo atraparlos, pero una vez que llegaron al refugio, se adaptaron muy rápidamente! Pensamos que tomaría tiempo para que salieran de su caparazón, pero no - comida, humanos amables y seguridad les permitieron ganar confianza rápidamente. Los primeros días dormían profundamente, descansando de un largo período de carrera e incertidumbre. Ahora viven juntos con otra perra Podenco y disfrutan mucho ir a los parques de ejercicio libre. Thelma tiene un carácter muy equilibrado - como casi siempre los Podencos, le encanta revolverse en los arbustos buscando ratones e insectos, hacer un poco de excavación en la esperanza de encontrar agujeros de conejos, pero al mismo tiempo, no está obsesionada solo con eso - cuando hay un humano cerca, le encanta recibir abrazos y snacks, y se queda encantada al lado del humano. Thelma & Louis están unidos, pero ya no dependen el uno del otro. Sin embargo, es seguro que Thelma definitivamente desea tener al menos 1 perro más en su hogar para compañía - es muy social y juguetona, le encanta molestar a sus amigos caninos mordisqueando sus orejas e invitándolos a jugar. Thelma camina muy bien en la correa, y es un perro excelente para socializar - es educada con los nuevos perros que conoce, no provocativa, abierta y suavemente social. Thelma no es hiperactiva, hiper o ansiosa, no - cuando se siente un poco estresada o abrumada, no lo expresa con correr desesperadamente, sino que se queda callada y se queda quieta. Es probable que Thelma nunca haya vivido en un entorno doméstico estándar antes - eran probablemente perros de cazadores u okupas o personas viajeras. Así que aunque Thelma esté haciendo muy bien y esté feliz, alegre y encantadora - su futura familia aún tendrá que tener en cuenta que necesitará tiempo y paciencia al mudarse a un nuevo entorno. Un rastreador GPS es muy recomendado para este tipo de perros al menos durante el primer periodo de llegada, hasta que el perro esté cómodo y vinculado en casa. Está buscando un hogar con experiencia previa con perros, idealmente con Podenco u otras razas similares. Es amable con todos los humanos que conoce, incluyendo niños, así que su familia podría incluir niños de 12 años en adelante, para la seguridad del hogar de no perder al perro. No sabiendo sus experiencias de vida, no sabemos cómo se sentiría sobre un entorno urbano, en este momento estamos buscando un hogar en un barrio tranquilo, cerca de la naturaleza, idealmente con un espacio exterior seguramente cerrado. Su altura en el hombro es de 47 cm. Ha sido probada para enfermedades mediterráneas y es saludable.

Thelma & Louis were caught by our Search & Rescue team with traps, as they were reported for a long period of time to be running around, without humans, on a big field near a busy area of Puerto Banus. It took a while to catch them, but once they arrived to the shelter, they settled in very quickly! We thought it will take time for them to come out of their shells, but no - food, kind humans and safety allowed them to gain confidence fast. The first few days they were sleeping deeply, resting of a long time of running & uncertainty. Now they are living together with another female Podenco, and really enjoy going to the free-running parks. Thelma has a very nicely balanced character - like Podencos almost always, she loves to scruff around in the bushes, looking for mice and insects, do a bit of digging in hopes for rabbit holes, but at the same time, she is not obsessively focused on that only - when there is a human around, she loves to receive cuddles and snacks, and very gladly stays by the humans side. Thelma & Louis are of course bonded, but no longer dependant on each other. It is sure however, that Thelma definitely wishes to have at least 1 more dog in her forever home as companionship - she is very social, and playful, loves to annoy her canine friends by nibbling on their ears, and inviting them to play. Thelma walks very well on the leash, and she is an excellent socialisation dog - she is polite with new dogs that she meets, not provocative, open and softly social. Thelma is not overly active, hyper or anxious, no - when she gets a bit stressed or overwhelmed, she does not express it with running around hectically, but she rather goes quiet and stays still. Most likely she has not lived in a standard home environment before - they were likely either dogs of hunters or okupas or travelling people. So even though Thelma is doing so well, and she is happy, cheerful, lovely - her future family will still need to keep in mind that she will need time and patience when moving into a new environment. A GPS Tracker is very much recommend for these type of dogs at least for the first arrival period, until the dog is nicely settled and bonded at home. She is looking for a home with already previous dog experience, ideally with Podenco or other similar breeds. She is kind with all humans she meets, including children, so her family could include children from 12years and up, for home safety of not losing the dog. Not knowing her life experiences, we do not know how she would feel about a town environment, at the moment we are looking for a home in a quiet neighborhood, close to the nature, ideally with a safely secured outdoors space. Her shoulder height is 47cm. She has been tested for Mediterranean diseases and is healthy.
