Thelma & Louis ont été capturés par notre équipe de Secours et Sauvetage avec des pièges, car ils étaient signalés depuis longtemps comme se promenant sans humains sur un grand champ près d'une zone très fréquentée de Puerto Banus. Il a fallu un certain temps pour les capturer, mais une fois arrivés au refuge, ils se sont rapidement adaptés ! Nous pensions qu'il leur faudrait du temps pour sortir de leur coquille, mais non - la nourriture, les humains gentils et la sécurité ont permis à leur confiance de s'installer rapidement. Les premiers jours, ils dormaient profondément, récupérant d'un long moment de course et d'incertitude. Maintenant, ils vivent ensemble avec une autre femelle Podenco et adorent aller dans les parcs de course libre. Thelma a un caractère très équilibré - comme presque tous les Podencos, elle aime se rouler dans les buissons, chercher des souris et des insectes, faire un peu de fouille en espérant des terriers de lapins, mais en même temps, elle n'est pas obsédée uniquement par cela - lorsqu'un humain est présent, elle adore recevoir des câlin et des friandises, et reste volontiers à côté des humains. Thelma & Louis sont bien sûr liés, mais ne dépendent plus l'un de l'autre. Cependant, il est certain que Thelma souhaite avoir au moins un autre chien dans sa future maison pour la compagnie - elle est très sociable et joueuse, elle aime embêter ses amis canins en mordillant leurs oreilles et en les invitant à jouer. Thelma marche très bien en laisse, et c'est un excellent chien socialisé - elle est polie avec les nouveaux chiens qu'elle rencontre, pas provocatrice, ouverte et douce. Thelma n'est pas trop active, hyperactive ou anxieuse, non - lorsqu'elle est un peu stressée ou submergée, elle ne le montre pas en courant frénétiquement, mais elle devient silencieuse et reste immobile. Probablement, elle n'a jamais vécu dans un environnement domestique standard auparavant - ils étaient probablement des chiens de chasseurs ou d'Okupas ou de gens voyageurs. Donc même si Thelma va très bien, elle est heureuse, joyeuse et charmante - sa future famille devra tout de même garder à l'esprit qu'elle aura besoin de temps et de patience lors du passage à un nouvel environnement. Un traceur GPS est fortement recommandé pour ce type de chiens pendant la période initiale, jusqu'à ce que le chien soit bien installé et attaché à la maison. Elle cherche une maison avec une expérience antérieure avec les chiens, idéalement avec un Podenco ou une autre race similaire. Elle est gentille avec tous les humains qu'elle rencontre, y compris les enfants, donc sa famille pourrait inclure des enfants à partir de 12 ans, pour la sécurité de la maison et pour éviter de perdre le chien. Ne connaissant pas son histoire, nous ne savons pas comment elle réagirait à un environnement urbain, pour l'instant nous recherchons une maison dans un quartier calme, proche de la nature, idéalement avec un espace extérieur sécurisé. Sa hauteur aux épaules est de 47 cm. Elle a été testée pour les maladies méditerranéennes et est en bonne santé.

Thelma & Louis were caught by our Search & Rescue team with traps, as they were reported for a long period of time to be running around, without humans, on a big field near a busy area of Puerto Banus. It took a while to catch them, but once they arrived to the shelter, they settled in very quickly! We thought it will take time for them to come out of their shells, but no - food, kind humans and safety allowed them to gain confidence fast. The first few days they were sleeping deeply, resting of a long time of running & uncertainty. Now they are living together with another female Podenco, and really enjoy going to the free-running parks. Thelma has a very nicely balanced character - like Podencos almost always, she loves to scruff around in the bushes, looking for mice and insects, do a bit of digging in hopes for rabbit holes, but at the same time, she is not obsessively focused on that only - when there is a human around, she loves to receive cuddles and snacks, and very gladly stays by the humans side. Thelma & Louis are of course bonded, but no longer dependant on each other. It is sure however, that Thelma definitely wishes to have at least 1 more dog in her forever home as companionship - she is very social, and playful, loves to annoy her canine friends by nibbling on their ears, and inviting them to play. Thelma walks very well on the leash, and she is an excellent socialisation dog - she is polite with new dogs that she meets, not provocative, open and softly social. Thelma is not overly active, hyper or anxious, no - when she gets a bit stressed or overwhelmed, she does not express it with running around hectically, but she rather goes quiet and stays still. Most likely she has not lived in a standard home environment before - they were likely either dogs of hunters or okupas or travelling people. So even though Thelma is doing so well, and she is happy, cheerful, lovely - her future family will still need to keep in mind that she will need time and patience when moving into a new environment. A GPS Tracker is very much recommend for these type of dogs at least for the first arrival period, until the dog is nicely settled and bonded at home. She is looking for a home with already previous dog experience, ideally with Podenco or other similar breeds. She is kind with all humans she meets, including children, so her family could include children from 12years and up, for home safety of not losing the dog. Not knowing her life experiences, we do not know how she would feel about a town environment, at the moment we are looking for a home in a quiet neighborhood, close to the nature, ideally with a safely secured outdoors space. Her shoulder height is 47cm. She has been tested for Mediterranean diseases and is healthy.
