Chance fue encontrado muy delgado y cerca de la muerte en un lago seco y fue inmediatamente llevado a un veterinario. Su condición era crítica y su camino de regreso a la vida no fue nada fácil. Uno de nuestros voluntarios decidió luchar por él y Chance luchó de vuelta. Hoy está estable y listo para el siguiente paso: encontrar su propio hogar. Chance es un perro increíblemente cariñoso y afectuoso que realmente disfruta estar cerca de las personas. Le encanta acurrucarse y busca activamente el contacto humano. En la vida diaria, es curioso y abierto, y no tiene problemas con las personas cuando está fuera. Viaja muy bien en el auto, generalmente durmiendo en la parte trasera. También puede estar solo sin problemas y está entrenado para hacer sus necesidades, aunque necesita oportunidades regulares para hacerlas. Se lleva muy bien con gatos, niños y cachorros. Con perros más grandes, depende de la química; prefiere evitar conflictos haciendo un gruñido corto y alejándose en lugar de enfrentarse. No muestra comportamiento agresivo. Un aspecto importante a considerar es su fuerte agresión alimentaria y su comportamiento extremadamente codicioso al comer. Chance comerá cualquier cosa que pueda encontrar, tanto en interiores (como plástico o papel) como en exteriores. Esto requiere un manejo constante y guía. También tiene dificultades para manejar la frustración, lo cual está siendo abordado actualmente. En cuanto a su salud, Chance requiere cuidados continuos. Debido a su pasado, revisiones veterinarias regulares son esenciales, incluyendo pruebas sanguíneas cada seis meses. Recibe medicación diaria (Allopurinol y Prednicortone). También tiene problemas recurrentes de piel, probablemente relacionados con una combinación de lupus y leishmaniosis. En la clínica veterinaria, es generalmente cooperativo pero muy sensible, especialmente las extracciones de sangre son difíciles debido a su historial médico. Chance was found severely emaciated and close to death at a dried-up lake and was immediately taken to a veterinarian. His condition was critical, and his journey back to life was anything but easy. One of our volunteers decided to fight for him – and Chance fought back. Today, he is stable and ready for the next step: finding a home of his own.Chance is an incredibly loving and affectionate dog who truly enjoys being close to people. He loves to cuddle and actively seeks human contact. In daily life, he is curious and open, and he has no issues with people when outside. He travels very well in the car, usually lying down in the back seat and sleeping. He can also stay alone without problems and is house-trained, although he needs regular opportunities to relieve himself.He gets along very well with cats, children, and puppies. With larger dogs, it depends on the chemistry – he prefers to avoid conflict by giving a short growl and walking away rather than engaging. He does not show aggressive behavior.One important aspect to consider is his strong food aggression and extremely greedy eating behavior. Chance will eat anything he can find – both indoors (such as plastic or paper) and outside. This requires consistent management and guidance. He also struggles with handling frustration, which is currently being worked on.Health-wise, Chance requires ongoing care. Due to his past, regular veterinary check-ups are essential, including blood tests every six months. He receives daily medication (Allopurinol and Prednicortone). He also has recurring skin issues, likely related to a combination of lupus and leishmaniasis. At the vet, he is generally cooperative but very sensitive – especially blood draws are difficult due to his medical history.We are looking for experienced and responsible adopters with a big heart, patience, and understanding.
