Chapi llegó a nosotros sin microchip y muy delgado, pero incluso en la situación de abandono, Chapi siempre estuvo con buenos ánimos, lleno de vida y listo para divertirse. Chapi es un cruza Shar Pei, tiene la cara de Shar Pei, forma corporal, lengua manchada de azul pero no tiene los pliegues típicos de piel pesada en su cuerpo. Su piel y cuerpo ahora están en muy buen estado y no requiere ninguna dieta especial o medicación en este momento para su piel, como muchos Shar Peis sí lo hacen. Chapi ama alimentos y snacks, así que aunque los Shar Peis son bastante tercos y a veces ignorantes cuando se trata de reglas y entrenamiento, es bastante fácil entrenar a Chapi, ya que le encanta la comida buena. Lamentablemente, Chapi ya ha sido devuelto de 2 hogares, y estamos devastados. Lo que necesita Chapi es un hogar tranquilo y seguro, quien sea capaz de establecer reglas y límites a un perro, pero no solo eso, sino también de interactuar con Chapi de manera que cree una relación de respeto mutuo, no solo "Soy humano, tú haces lo que yo digo". Clases de obediencia, caminatas grupales sociales con entrenador y otros perros, juegos de búsqueda olfativa, juegos de búsqueda - todos estos actividades conectarán a Chapi y a su human, y harán que la vida juntos sea mucho más fácil y liviana. Una persona capaz de decirle "no" a su perro, y ayudar a desarrollar un perro equilibrado, tranquilo y confiado. Cuando Chapi está en un entorno doméstico sin experiencia y límites, entonces, por frustración, destruyó juguetes y botellas de agua, o rollos de papel higiénico - para canalizar su frustración. También a veces guardaba tratamientos de alto valor como un hueso de hámster, por lo tanto es importante tener reglas en la casa y reducir puntos potenciales de conflicto. Chapi es muy juguetón y ama estar en contacto físico con su humano, así que busca un humano acogedor, uno que no se moleste con besos desordenados en todo tu rostro. Aunque necesita llevar una bozal en la veterinaria cuando algo doloroso se está haciendo, sigue siendo el perro favorito de la enfermera, una vez que el procedimiento termine - besando y lamiendo a las enfermeras veterinarias. Como muchos perros, Chapi tiene displasia de caderas/artritis, por lo tanto toma medicamentos para el dolor en los huesos, y necesita algunas sesiones de fisioterapia para ayudar a mantener su movilidad. En el refugio, está en el plan de fisioterapia, como muchos otros perros, y está haciendo bien. Cuando Chapi está motivado, puede tirar bastante fuerte en la correa, así que necesita un humano que tenga paciencia para trabajar con él en eso. Cuando está en una caminata social con otros perros, y tiene interacciones interesantes con humanos y perros, es mucho más tranquilo en la correa, que cuando camina solo, entonces va zigzag y quiere olfatear cada arbusto urgentemente. Chapi es muy amable con los niños, y siempre calma su energía cuando está alrededor de los niños. Sin embargo, para su entorno familiar, buscamos un hogar sin niños, para tener más estructura, rutina y un ambiente tranquilo para Chapi. Pasar bicicletas, patinetes y personas que no le importaban. Mientras estaba en el café, se tumbaba con algo para morder y esperaba pacientemente. Sabe sentarse y esperar hasta que encuentres tu snack en tu bolsillo. Podría vivir con uno o más otros perros, es respetuoso y tranquilo con otros perros y también parece serlo con gatos. Un perro tranquilo, equilibrado y educador en el hogar sería genial para Chapi, así que todas sus necesidades de interacción y socialización no serían responsabilidad solo del humano, sino que también tendría una salida para sus necesidades sociales con otros caninos, lo cual sería excelente. En caso de que no haya otro perro en la familia, se necesitarían paseos guiados con otros perros - le encanta. Su altura en el hombro es de 52 cm, es un chico compacto que viaja bien en el auto.

Chapi arrived to us without a microchip and very skinny, but even in the situation of abandonment, Chapi always was in happy spirits, full of life and ready to have fun! Chapi is a Shar Pei mix, has the Shar Pei face, body shape, blue-dotted tongue but doesn’t have the typical heavy skin folds on his body. His skin and body are now in very good condition and he does not require any special diet or medicine at this point for his skin, like many Shar Peis do. Chapi loves foods and snacks, so even though Shar Peis are quite stubborn and sometimes ignorant when it comes to rules and training, then it is quite easy to train Chapi, since he loves yummy stuff. Sadly, Chapi has already been returned from 2 homes, and we are devastated. What Chapi needs, is a calm confident home, who is able to set rules and boundaries to a dog, but not only - also to engage with Chapi in a way that creates a mutul respect relationship, not just “I am human, you do as I say”. Obedience classes, social group walks with trainer and other dogs, nosework, searching games - all of these activities will bond Chapi and his human, and make life together so much easier and lighter. A person who is able to say “no” to their dog, and will help develop a balanced, peaceful and confident dog. When Chapi is in a home environment without experience and boundaries, then from frustration he destroyed toys and water bottles, or toilet paper rolls - to direct his frustration. He also was sometimes guarding very high value treats like a ham bone, so it is important to have rules in the house, and to reduce potential points of conflict. Chapi is very playful and loves to be in physical contact with his human, so he is looking for a cuddly human, one that does not mind sloppery kisses all over your face. Even though he needs to wear a muzzle at the veterinary when something painful is being done, he is still the favourite dog of the nurse, once the procedure is over - kissing and smooching the veterinary nurses! Like many dogs, Chapi has hip dysplasia/arthrosis, so he is taking medicine for pain in the bones, and needs some physiotherapy to help maintain his mobility. In the shelter, he is on the physiotherapy plan, like many other dogs, and is doing well. When Chapi is motivated, he can pull quite strong on the leash, so he does need a human, who has the patience to work with him on that. When he is on a social walk with other dogs, and has interesting interactions with humans and dogs, then he is much calmer on the leash, than when walking by himself, then he goes zig-zag and wants to urgently sniff every bush. Chapi is really nice with children, and always calms down his energy when he is around children. However, for his home environment, we are looking for a home without children, in order to have more structure, routine and peaceful environment for Chapi. Passing bikes, scooters and people he didn‘t mind. While at the cafe, he lays down with something to chew on and waits patiently. He knows sit and waits until you find your snack in your pocket. He could potentially live together with one or more other dogs, he is respectful and cool with other dogs and also with cats it seems. A calm, balanced, educator dog in the home would be great for Chapi, so all of his interaction and socialisation needs are not the responsibility of the human only, but he has an outlet for his social needs also with the other canines, that would be great! In case there is no other dog in the family, then social guided walks with other dogs would be needed - he loves it. His shoulder height is 52cm, he is a compact boy who travels well in the car.
