Chapi est arrivé chez nous sans puce électronique et très maigre, mais même dans la situation d'abandon, Chapi avait toujours un esprit joyeux, plein de vie et prêt à s'amuser ! Chapi est un croisé Shar Pei, a le visage du Shar Pei, la forme corporelle, une langue tachetée bleue, mais n'a pas les plis cutanés typiques sur son corps. Sa peau et son corps sont maintenant en très bon état et il n'a pas besoin d'un régime spécial ou de médicaments pour sa peau, comme beaucoup de Shar Peis. Chapi aime les aliments et les friandises, donc même si les Shar Peis sont assez entêtés et parfois ignorants lorsqu'il s'agit de règles et d'entraînement, il est assez facile d'entraîner Chapi, car il adore les bons petits plats. Malheureusement, Chapi a déjà été renvoyé de 2 maisons, et nous sommes dévastés. Ce dont Chapi a besoin, c'est d'un environnement calme et confiant, qui soit capable de fixer des règles et des limites à un chien, mais pas seulement - aussi d'interagir avec Chapi de manière à créer une relation de respect mutuel, pas seulement « Je suis humain, tu fais ce que je dis ». Des cours d'obéissance, des promenades sociales avec un entraîneur et d'autres chiens, des jeux de recherche, tout cela liera Chapi à son humain et rendra la vie commune bien plus facile et légère. Une personne capable de dire « non » à son chien et qui l'aidera à développer un chien équilibré, paisible et confiant. Lorsque Chapi est dans un environnement domestique sans expérience et sans limites, il détruit des jouets et des bouteilles d'eau ou des rouleaux de papier hygiénique pour exprimer sa frustration. Il gardait parfois très fortement des friandises de grande valeur comme un os de hamster, donc il est important d'avoir des règles dans la maison et de réduire les points de conflit potentiels. Chapi est très joueur et aime être en contact physique avec son humain, donc il cherche un humain câlin, qui ne se laisse pas déranger par des baisers mouillés partout sur votre visage. Même s'il doit porter un collier de contrôle au vétérinaire lorsqu'une procédure douloureuse est faite, il reste le chien préféré des infirmières, une fois la procédure terminée - il les embrasse et les couve ! Comme beaucoup de chiens, Chapi souffre de dysplasie des hanches/arthrose, donc il prend des médicaments pour la douleur osseuse et a besoin de physiothérapie pour aider à maintenir sa mobilité. Au refuge, il suit un programme de physiothérapie, comme beaucoup d'autres chiens, et ça va bien. Lorsque Chapi est motivé, il peut tirer assez fort sur la laisse, donc il a besoin d'un humain patient pour travailler avec lui sur ce point. Lorsqu'il est en promenade sociale avec d'autres chiens et a des interactions intéressantes avec les humains et les chiens, il est beaucoup plus calme sur la laisse que lorsqu'il marche seul, alors il fait des zigzags et veut sentir chaque buisson urgentement. Chapi est vraiment gentil avec les enfants, et il calme toujours son énergie lorsqu'il est autour des enfants. Cependant, pour son environnement domestique, nous recherchons une maison sans enfants, afin d'avoir plus de structure, une routine et un environnement paisible pour Chapi. Les vélos, les trottinettes et les personnes qu'il n'avait pas de problème. Pendant qu'il est au café, il s'allonge avec quelque chose à mâcher et attend patiemment. Il sait s'asseoir et attendre jusqu'à ce que vous trouviez votre friandise dans votre poche. Il pourrait potentiellement vivre avec un ou plusieurs autres chiens, il est respectueux et calme avec les autres chiens et semble également bien avec les chats. Un chien calme, équilibré et éducateur à la maison serait parfait pour Chapi, ainsi tous ses besoins d'interaction et de socialisation ne seront pas uniquement la responsabilité de l'humain, mais il aura une sortie pour ses besoins sociaux avec les autres canins, ce qui serait formidable ! Si aucun autre chien n'est présent dans la famille, des promenades guidées sociales avec d'autres chiens seraient nécessaires - il adore ça. Sa hauteur à l'épaule est de 52 cm, c'est un garçon compact qui voyage bien en voiture.

Chapi arrived to us without a microchip and very skinny, but even in the situation of abandonment, Chapi always was in happy spirits, full of life and ready to have fun! Chapi is a Shar Pei mix, has the Shar Pei face, body shape, blue-dotted tongue but doesn’t have the typical heavy skin folds on his body. His skin and body are now in very good condition and he does not require any special diet or medicine at this point for his skin, like many Shar Peis do. Chapi loves foods and snacks, so even though Shar Peis are quite stubborn and sometimes ignorant when it comes to rules and training, then it is quite easy to train Chapi, since he loves yummy stuff. Sadly, Chapi has already been returned from 2 homes, and we are devastated. What Chapi needs, is a calm confident home, who is able to set rules and boundaries to a dog, but not only - also to engage with Chapi in a way that creates a mutul respect relationship, not just “I am human, you do as I say”. Obedience classes, social group walks with trainer and other dogs, nosework, searching games - all of these activities will bond Chapi and his human, and make life together so much easier and lighter. A person who is able to say “no” to their dog, and will help develop a balanced, peaceful and confident dog. When Chapi is in a home environment without experience and boundaries, then from frustration he destroyed toys and water bottles, or toilet paper rolls - to direct his frustration. He also was sometimes guarding very high value treats like a ham bone, so it is important to have rules in the house, and to reduce potential points of conflict. Chapi is very playful and loves to be in physical contact with his human, so he is looking for a cuddly human, one that does not mind sloppery kisses all over your face. Even though he needs to wear a muzzle at the veterinary when something painful is being done, he is still the favourite dog of the nurse, once the procedure is over - kissing and smooching the veterinary nurses! Like many dogs, Chapi has hip dysplasia/arthrosis, so he is taking medicine for pain in the bones, and needs some physiotherapy to help maintain his mobility. In the shelter, he is on the physiotherapy plan, like many other dogs, and is doing well. When Chapi is motivated, he can pull quite strong on the leash, so he does need a human, who has the patience to work with him on that. When he is on a social walk with other dogs, and has interesting interactions with humans and dogs, then he is much calmer on the leash, than when walking by himself, then he goes zig-zag and wants to urgently sniff every bush. Chapi is really nice with children, and always calms down his energy when he is around children. However, for his home environment, we are looking for a home without children, in order to have more structure, routine and peaceful environment for Chapi. Passing bikes, scooters and people he didn‘t mind. While at the cafe, he lays down with something to chew on and waits patiently. He knows sit and waits until you find your snack in your pocket. He could potentially live together with one or more other dogs, he is respectful and cool with other dogs and also with cats it seems. A calm, balanced, educator dog in the home would be great for Chapi, so all of his interaction and socialisation needs are not the responsibility of the human only, but he has an outlet for his social needs also with the other canines, that would be great! In case there is no other dog in the family, then social guided walks with other dogs would be needed - he loves it. His shoulder height is 52cm, he is a compact boy who travels well in the car.
