Ella tiene apenas 3 kilos, y cuando la encontramos en una de las jaulas del refugio público de Sparta, casi nos desmayamos. Era el peor refugio de todos. Ella fue el primer perro que conseguimos de allí, y cuando la levantamos para llevarla afuera, apareció una sonrisa en nuestros rostros. Y esa sonrisa sigue allí. Cada vez que la miramos, y cada vez que pasamos tiempo con ella, sonreímos. Incluso cuando estaba delgada y llena de sarna, en su miseria, tenía un encanto. Le dimos el nombre de Erinaki (de una canción griega popular de los años 1930) Ella permaneció tan pequeña durante aproximadamente un mes. Solo salía pelo. Y de repente, después de uno y medio meses, después de comer bien y recibir suficiente cuidado, comenzó a crecer. Y a crecer aún más. Hasta que se convirtió en quien es hoy. La miramos hoy y parece como si el perro delgado que conocimos hace meses fuera algún otro animal. Si no hubiéramos vivido y cuidado de ella, y si no hubiéramos visto su transformación, no la habríamos reconocido. Pero de alguna manera extraña, Erinaki parece tener a ambos perros, el primero y el segundo, dentro de ella, y esto es algo que no podemos explicar con otras palabras. Hay que conocerla para entenderlo. Es un perro que es valiente y tímido, es pequeña pero a veces se siente enorme, es dulce y al mismo tiempo parece groso. Si no hubiera estado tan desnutrida al inicio de su vida, quizás ahora tendría el doble de tamaño, quizás no. Tiene una figura de perro grande dentro de un cuerpo pequeño, y esto es una de las cosas que la hacen única. Mira el VIDEO de su historia.

She is barely 3 kilos, and when we found her in one of the cages in the public pound of Sparta , we nearly collapsed. It was the worse kennel of all. She was the first dog we got from there, and as we lifted her to carry her out, a smile appeared on our face. And that smile is still there. Every time we look at her, and every time we spend time with her, we smile. Even when she was thin and full of mange, in her misery, she had a charm. We named her Erinaki (from a popular Greek song of the 1930s) She stayed so small for about a month. She only put out hair. And suddenly, after a month and a half, after eating well and getting enough care, she began to grow. And to grow even bigger. Until she became who she is today. We look at her today and it's as if that skinny dog we knew months ago was some other animal. If we hadn't lived and cared for her, and if we hadn't seen her change, we wouldn't have recognized it. But in some strange way, Erinaki is as if it has both of these dogs, the first and the second, inside her, and this is something that we cannot explain in other words. One has to get to know her to understand it. It is a dog that is both brave and shy, she is small but sometimes she feels huge, she is sweet and at the same time she looks grumpy. If she hadn't been so malnourished at the beginning of her life, maybe now she would be twice the size, maybe not.
