Mafalda es un perro amable y dulce de alrededor de 35 kg y 7 años. Le gusta la compañía de otros perros, y durante su tiempo en nuestro refugio, ha convivido felizmente con numerosos perros de ambos sexos y de todos los tamaños. Es especialmente maternal con cachorros. Mafalda ha sufrido abandono y trato brusco durante su vida, y puede ser desconfiada con extraños al principio, aunque nunca es agresiva. Su confianza ha mejorado considerablemente durante su tiempo con nosotros y ha desarrollado fuertes vínculos con las personas que se ocupan de ella. Le encantan los paseos y se ha adaptado bien a llevar una correa y arnés. Como muchos perros de esta mezcla de razas particulares (cruza de Serra de Estrela), Mafalda es un excelente perro de guardia con un ladrido fuerte y está idealmente adaptada para vivir al aire libre. Nos gustaría verla reubicada en un lugar que pueda apoyar este estilo de vida y que tenga plenty de espacio exterior seguro (con valla). Los posibles dueños deben tener experiencia con razas grandes guardianas, estar dispuestos a trabajar con Mafalda con bondad y paciencia para ganar su confianza, y tener al menos otro perro que se comporte de manera amistosa y respetuosa con Mafalda, ya que la compañía canina es absolutamente necesaria para ella y le resulta extremadamente estresante estar sola.

Mafalda is a kind and gentle dog of around 35kg and 7 years old. She loves the company of other dogs, and during her time in our shelter, she has cohabitated happily with numerous dogs of both sexes and all sizes. She is particularly maternal with puppies. Mafalda has experienced abandonment and harsh treatment during her life, and can be wary of strangers at first, although she is never aggressive. Her confidence has improved considerably during her time with us and she has developed strong bonds with the people who care for her. She is extremely fond of walks and has adapted well to wearing a harness and lead. Like many dogs of this particular breed mixture (Serra de Estrela cruzada), Mafalda is an excellent guard dog with a loud bark and is ideally suited to outdoor living. We would like to see her rehomed somewhere that could support this lifestyle and that has plenty of secure (fenced) outdoor space. Prospective owners should have some experience with larger guardian breeds, be willing to work kindly and patiently with Mafalda to win her trust, and have at least one other dog that will behave in a friendly and respectful manner with Mafalda, since canine company is an absolute necessity for her and she finds it extremely distressing to be left alone.
