Gran chico cariñoso Robbie llegó a una casa en Almería donde fue cuidado por una familia con niños pequeños y gatos. Él se portó maravillosamente con ellos pero no estaban en posición de mantenerlo, así que afortunadamente se aseguró un lugar con uno de nuestros increíbles adoptivos donde vivía en una casa con muchos otros perros y se portó muy bien: bueno con los demás perros, y estaba relajado en la casa. Robbie luego llegó al Reino Unido y a una casa y inicialmente tuvo dificultades para adaptarse después del transporte lo que llevó a que se mudara a una casa de acogida que está experimentada con podencos. Desde la mudanza, ha vuelto a su viejo yo y disfruta de pasar el día durmiendo. Ha engordado lo cual ha ayudado mucho a su sobrestimulación con la comida aunque a veces roba la comida de otros perros cuando tiene la oportunidad así que esto necesita ser gestionado. Esta es lo que dice su mamá de acogida Kate sobre él: "Vivir con Robbie nos ha enseñado muchas cosas; principalmente que el espacio personal es un concepto ficticio, si no está apoyándose en nosotros está tumbado encima de nosotros, es grande, es cariñoso y cree que es un Greyhound Italiano. Robbie significa abrazos, tonterías y un mejor amigo, trae risa, lealtad y muchísimo amor. Hemos visto cómo vuelve a confiar, viendo su personalidad desarrollarse, tiene un entusiasmo por la vida, Robbie no es demasiado grande ni demasiado mucha cosa, simplemente está esperando a alguien que vea el increíble compañero que puede ser". Estamos buscando idealmente una casa con uno o dos perros equilibrados y seguros que disfruten de jugar y no se dejen intimidar por su tamaño pero que también puedan continuar siendo excelentes modelos para él. En entornos nuevos (como un reciente viaje a la oficina de sus cuidadores durante el día), todavía puede encontrar las cosas un poco demasiado emocionantes inicialmente y tener dificultades para adaptarse pero con una rutina tranquila en casa es un chico perezoso y mientras sigue conociendo a sus humanos creemos que se adaptará más rápidamente en lugares nuevos. Ha logrado relajarse en la taberna en algunas ocasiones y está contento de estar fuera y deambulando en lugares públicos. Le encantan las personas y es muy amigable - disfruta de un abrazo en el sofá y está dispuesto a complacer. Está acostumbrado a estar fuera, caminando con correa aunque es un gran chico así que puede ser fuerte. También es bueno en el coche. Robbie tiene muchas posibilidades y hará maravillas con el tiempo y la consistencia que ofrece una casa para siempre. Big, loveable lad Robbie turned up at a home in Almeria where he was cared for by a family with young children and cats. He did absolutely brilliantly with them but they weren’t in a position to keep him, so he thankfully bagged himself a spot with one of our amazing fosters where he was living in a home with lots of other dogs and he did really well - good with the other dogs, and he was relaxed around the home. Robbie then made his way to the UK and into a home and initially struggled to settle after the transport which led to him moving to a foster home who are experienced with podencos. Since the move, he’s back to his old self and will happily snooze the day away! He’s put on weight which has really helped his overstimulation around food although he will steal other dogs food given the chance so this will need to be managed. This is what his foster mum Kate has to say about him: “Living with Robbie has taught us many things; mainly that personal space is a fictional concept, if he isn’t leaning on us he is lying on us, he is big, he is loving and believes he is an Italian Greyhound. Robbie means cuddles, goofiness and a best friend, he brings laughter, loyalty and a whole lot of love. We have watched him trust again, seeing his personality unfold, he has a zest for life, Robbie isn’t too big or too much he is simply waiting for someone to see the incredible companion he can be.” We’re ideally looking for a home with one or two well balanced confident dogs that enjoy a play and won’t be intimidated by his size but can also continue to be wonderful role models for him. In new environments (like a recent trip to his fosters office for the day), he can still find things a little too exciting initially and struggle to settle but with a calm routine in the home he is a lazy boy and as he continues to bond with his humans we think he’ll start settling much quicker in new places. He’s managed to relax in the pub on a few occasions and is happy being out and about in public places. He loves people and is very friendly - enjoying a snuggle on the sofa and eager to please. He’s used to being out and about, walking on a lead although is a big boy so can be strong! He is also good in the car. Robbie has got bucket loads of potential and will do brilliantly with time and consistency that comes with a forever home.
