Daphne on yksi alkuperäisistä Hämäräkoirista, jotka saapuivat laitokseen 6 vuotta sitten yhdessä neljän sisarensa kanssa. Ennen kuin viimeaikana ajattelimme, että tälle surulliselle perheelle ei koskaan löytyisi kotia. Joten vuonna sitten rakennimme erityisen perheen aitauksen heille, uskomalla, että he olivat varattuja jättämään kaikki päivänsä laitoksessa. Valitettavasti vaikka tämä paransi hieman heidän elämäänsä, Daphne oli työntyvä ulos sisareidensa ja ei syönnyt. Siksi hänet siirrettiin takaisin vanhaan kylpyhuoneeseen, missä hän näyttää olevan pieni muutos. Daphne tulee nyt ulos liidulla ja sekoittuu muiden koirien kanssa, kun vapaaehtoiskunnan jäsenet vierailleet. Vaikka Daphneellä on vielä pitkä tie ennen kuin voimme harkita hänen siirtymistään uudelle kotipaikalle, mutta pienillä askeleilla, kuten monet Hämäräkoirat ennen häntä, toivomme, että jonain päivänä näemme hänet omassa hiljaisessa kotinsa kohdalla, missä hän voi oppia olemaan rakastettu koira. Olen edelleen hyvin pelokas, mutta unelmoon vähän äiti tai isä, joka kehottaa minut pääsemään kuoresta.

Daphne is one of our original Ghost Dogs who arrived at the shelter with her 4 siblings in 2019. Until recently we thought that there was no hope of any of this sad family ever finding homes. So in 2023 we built a special family pen for them believing that they were destined to spend all their days at the shelter. Unfortunately, although this improved their existence somewhat Daphne was being pushed out by her siblings and wasn’t eating. So she was moved back into her old kennel where she seems to have had a small transformation. Daphne now will come out on a leash and mix with the other dogs when the volunteers visit. Poor Daphne still has a huge way to go before we can consider to re-home her but with small steps, just like many Ghost Dogs before her, we hope that one day we will see her in her own quiet home where she can learn to be a loved dog. I’m still very shy but dream of a kind mum or dad to coax me out of my shell.
