Daphne é uma das nossas primeiras Cães Fantasma que chegou ao abrigo com os seus 4 irmãos há 6 anos. Até recentemente pensávamos que não havia esperança de qualquer membro desta triste família encontrar um lar. Por isso, no ano passado construímos um pen especial para a família acreditando que estavam destinados a passar todos os seus dias no abrigo. Infelizmente, embora isto melhorasse ligeiramente a sua existência, Daphne estava a ser empurrada pelos irmãos e não comia. Por isso foi transferida para o seu antigo canil onde parece ter tido uma pequena transformação. Daphne agora sai numa coleira e mistura-se com os outros cães quando os voluntários visitam. A pobre Daphne ainda tem muito caminho a percorrer antes de podermos considerar reabilitá-la, mas com pequenos passos, tal como muitos Cães Fantasma antes dela, esperamos que um dia a vejamos no seu próprio lar tranquilo onde pode aprender a ser um cão amado. Estou ainda muito tímida, mas sonho com um pai ou mãe gentil que me convença a sair da minha concha.

Daphne is one of our original Ghost Dogs who arrived at the shelter with her 4 siblings in 2019. Until recently we thought that there was no hope of any of this sad family ever finding homes. So in 2023 we built a special family pen for them believing that they were destined to spend all their days at the shelter. Unfortunately, although this improved their existence somewhat Daphne was being pushed out by her siblings and wasn’t eating. So she was moved back into her old kennel where she seems to have had a small transformation. Daphne now will come out on a leash and mix with the other dogs when the volunteers visit. Poor Daphne still has a huge way to go before we can consider to re-home her but with small steps, just like many Ghost Dogs before her, we hope that one day we will see her in her own quiet home where she can learn to be a loved dog. I’m still very shy but dream of a kind mum or dad to coax me out of my shell.
