Patch est un Jack Russell classique, il a 6 ans et est en très bon état ayant venu d'un foyer très attentionné. Malheureusement, Patch a développé une tendance aux comportements dominants - grognements, morsures - lorsqu'il ne pouvait pas avoir son propre chemin. Dans sa maison, il a appris qu'il pouvait s'en sortir en ne sortant pas, ou en restant sur le canapé en grognant pour faire reculer ses propriétaires ! Depuis les semaines qu'il est arrivé au refuge, nous n'avons eu aucun problème avec lui. Le manipuler ; lui mettre la laisse ; le faire sortir avec des bénévoles pour des promenades ; marcher et partager une cage avec d'autres chiens - tout cela est parfait. Alors Patch n'est pas pour tout le monde, nous savons qu'il pourrait essayer d'utiliser des comportements dominants qu'il a déjà vus une fois qu'il se sera installé dans une nouvelle maison. Il a besoin d'un foyer expérimenté, plus calme, sans personnes allant et venant constamment. Il a aussi besoin de quelqu'un prêt à lui donner une correction ferme s'il essaie de s'en sortir avec quelque chose ! Patch est un garçon intelligent, affectueux, amusant. Il est très fiable, en laisse ou non, et il est impeccablement propre dans sa cage. Oui, il a besoin d'un maître expérimenté, mais aussi d'un foyer où il reçoit beaucoup de plaisir, d'encouragement et de réconfort. En raison de son histoire, nous ne le placerons pas dans un foyer avec des jeunes enfants. Patch s'entend très bien avec les autres chiens ici. Cela pourrait être un avantage d'avoir un autre chien à la maison où Patch comprend plus facilement que le monde ne tourne pas autour de lui !

Patch is a classic Jack Russell, he is 6 years old and in great nick having come from a very caring home. Unfortunately Patch developed a tendency towards controlling behaviours – growling, snapping – when he didn’t get his way. In his home he learned that he could get away with not going out, or staying on the sofa by giving a growl to make his owners back off! In the weeks since he arrived to the rescue, we have had no issue with him. Handling him; clipping on leads; sending him out with volunteers for walks; walking and sharing a kennel with other dogs – all fine. So Patch is not for everyone, we know he may try to employ previously-seen controlling behaviours once he settles in a new home. He needs an experienced, quieter home without people going in and out all the time. He also needs someone prepared to give firm correction if he tries to get away with anything! Patch is a clever, loving, entertaining lad. He is very trustworthy on and off the lead and he is immaculately clean in his kennel. Yes, he needs an experienced owner, but also a home where he gets plenty of fun, encouragement and comfort. Because of his history we will not rehome him to a household with young children. Patch mixes really well with other dogs here. It could be a bonus having another dog in the home where Patch more easily understands that the world doesn’t revolve around him!
