Heureusement, Stanley est entré en soin chez Safe Rescue il y a 4 ans provenant d’un refuge roumain. Il avait été très maltraité dans le refuge et était très maigre car les autres chiens ne lui permettaient pas de manger. Il cherche maintenant une personne très spéciale pour lui offrir la maison parfaite qu’il mérite. Stanley est un croisé de petite à moyenne taille, probablement environ 9 ans, et vit actuellement dans un foyer d’accueil à Norwich, Norfolk. On peut dire que Stanley n’a jamais vraiment été un « ami des humains ». Après des années de difficultés causées par les humains, cela est compréhensible, et donc il a vécu pendant 4 ans en étant nourri et en ne montrant aucune gratitude mais seulement des regards mécontents. Tout ce qui importait cependant, c’était qu’il soit sorti du refuge et heureux et en sécurité dans son foyer d’accueil. Pendant tout son séjour, Stanley n’a jamais été aucun problème. Il se fond généralement dans le fond. Il tolère d’être baigné et toiletté sans faire de problèmes lorsqu’on en a besoin. Il n’a jamais vraiment montré le moindre signe d’envie d’une interaction supplémentaire. Récemment cependant, la garde d’accueil de Stanley a ressenti un changement en lui et irait même jusqu’à dire qu’il a presque oublié lui-même et a apprécié un toilettage et un peu d’attention. Il a posé sa tête sur ses genoux et s’est endormi, montrant qu’en réalité il est maintenant âgé et mérite un environnement plus calme et détendu pour sa retraite. Cela reste potentiellement un cas où ce que vous pouvez faire pour Stanley et non pas l’amour qu’il vous rendra, mais peut-être qu’environnement plus individuel il peut être plus qu’un chien qui se fond dans le fond. En attendant, les récompenses viendront d’offrir du confort et de la paix à un vieil homme stoïque qui veut juste utiliser vous pour la nourriture. Stanley a besoin d’un autre chien en résidence et peut être joueur quand il pense que personne ne regarde. Il n’a aucun problème avec les chats. Il a été dans un foyer d’accueil avec des enfants de plus de 8 ans ; il les ignore et ils l’ignorent, et cette situation fonctionne pour tout le monde. Il fait des promenades et les apprécie initialement mais devient agressif après environ vingt minutes, surtout si vous choisissez une direction qui ne lui plaît pas. Malheureusement, on peut voir dans ses yeux qu’il a vu et subi bien plus que tout chien ne devrait, et donc il ne doit pas être jugé pour son attitude distante envers les humains. Pendant les séances de toilettage, de nombreuses cicatrices sont cachées par son pelage épais. Veuillez noter que Safe Rescue a une politique selon laquelle tous les chiens adoptés doivent porter un harnais au lieu d’une laisse élastique lors des promenades. Veuillez contacter uniquement les chiens de Safe Rescue si vous êtes prêt à toujours utiliser un harnais – les attaches extensibles ne sont pas acceptables pour Safe Rescue. Luckily, Stanley came into the care of Safe Rescue 4 years ago from a Romanian shelter. He had been extremely picked on in the shelter and was very underweight due to other dogs not allowing him to eat. He's now looking for a very special kind of person to offer him the perfect home he deserves. Stanley is a small to medium-sized Crossbreed, probably around 9 years old and living in a foster home in Royston, Hertfordshire. It’s fair to say that Stanley has not really been a “people person”. After years of hardship at the hands of humans, it's understandable, and so he's been ticking along for 4 years being fed and showing no gratitude but dirty looks. All that mattered, however, was that he was out of the shelter and happy and safe in his foster home. For the duration of his stay, Stanley has really not been any trouble at all. He blends into the background for the most part. He will tolerate being bathed and groomed without a fuss when needed. He’s just never really shown any sign of wanting any further interaction. Recently though, Stanley's foster carer has felt a change in him and would even go as far as to say that he almost forgot himself and enjoyed a groom and a fuss. He rested his head on her knee and dozed off, showing that actually he’s really a senior now and he deserves a quieter and more relaxed environment for his retirement. It is still potentially going to be a case of what you can do for Stanley and not what love he’s going to give back to you, but just maybe in a more one-to-one environment he can be more than a “blend into the background” dog. In the meantime, rewards will be from offering comfort and peace to a stoic old boy who just wants to use you for food. Stanley needs another dog in residence and can be playful when he thinks nobody is looking. He has no issues with cats. He has been in a foster home with children of 8 plus; he ignores them and they ignore him and that situation works for all involved. He will go for walks and enjoys them initially but gets belligerent after about twenty minutes, especially if you opt to go in a direction which displeases him. Sadly, you can see in his eyes that he’s seen and endured way more than any dog should, and he should therefore not be judged for his standoffish approach to humans. During grooming sessions, there are many scars hidden by his thick coat. Please note – Safe Rescue have a policy that all dogs adopted from them must wear a slip lead on walks. Please only enquire about Safe Rescue dogs if you are happy to always use a slip lead – extendable leads are not acceptable to Safe Rescue. All dogs have to be collected and a crate must be used.
