Duc est malheureusement l'un de ces grands chiens noirs qui n'a tout simplement jamais eu une vraie chance dans la vie. Duc vit avec nous au refuge SOS Animal à Calvia depuis plus de cinq ans maintenant – cinq longues années incroyables. Et avant cela, il avait déjà passé plus de deux ans à la Perrera Calvià. Une histoire de vie qui fait vraiment très mal. Duc n'a jamais été un chien facile – il avait sa propre histoire spéciale dès le début, ce qui bien sûr l'a façonné et qu'il n'a pas choisi lui-même. La bonne personne n'a jamais vraiment été trouvée pour lui – et à un moment donné, Duc était l'un de ces chiens qui étaient toujours ignorés parce qu'ils étaient là depuis si longtemps. Duc était toujours un chien aux bords rugueux et au caractère – un chien très spécial. Un chien qui n'avait besoin que d'une telle personne – une personne très spéciale. Avec le temps, nous du SOS Animal sommes devenus sa famille – après tout, il n'y avait pas d'autre option pour lui. Les chiens s'adaptent à leur situation à un moment donné. En avril 2020, lorsqu'il est venu nous rendre visite depuis la Perrera Calvià, on estimait qu'il avait environ 8 ans. Cela signifie qu'il a probablement entre 12 et 13 ans aujourd'hui. Et nous évitons depuis un certain temps de le réinstaller – car cela ne ferait plus aucun bien à notre Duc. Au fil des années, il est naturellement devenu de plus en plus spécial et parfois assez imprévisible. Notre chien âgé a quelques personnes au refuge en qui il a vraiment confiance et qui l'emmènent promener tous les jours et s'en occupent – c'est ce qui rend sa vie et il l'attend et y pense chaque jour. Bien sûr, en raison de son âge, il s'est considérablement détérioré récemment et nous ne savons pas combien de temps encore il vivra. Nous ne pouvons faire que tout ce que nous pouvons pour rendre sa vie au refuge aussi "confortable" que possible. Bien sûr, Duc a son propre enclos chez nous – et c'est et restera son "chez lui" jusqu'à la fin. Dans cet enclos, il y a un transat – à un endroit où il a une bonne vue sur presque tout. C'est son endroit préféré. DUC – il est un exemple triste de nombreux autres chiens, particulièrement les grands chiens noirs, qui n'ont pas eu une vraie chance dans la vie. Et tout ce qui reste pour nous maintenant, c'est de surveiller très attentivement et de faire tout ce que nous pouvons pour qu'il puisse vivre sa dernière phase de vie avec autant de dignité que possible – et nous lui avons certainement promis 🙏❤.

Duc is unfortunately one of those big black dogs who simply never got a real chance in life. Duc has been living with us at the SOS Animal shelter in Calvia for over five years now – an incredible five long years. And before that, he had already spent over two years in the Perrera Calvià. A life story that makes you incredibly sad 😔. Duc was never really an easy dog – he had his own special story right from the start, which of course shaped him and which he certainly didn’t choose himself. The right person was never really found for him – and at some point Duc was one of those dogs that were always overlooked because they had simply been around for so long. Duc was always a dog with rough edges and character – a very special dog. A dog who needed just such a person – a very special person. Over time, we at SOS Animal became his family – after all, there was no other option for him. Dogs just adapt to their situation at some point. In April 2020, when he came to us from the Perrera Calvià, he was estimated to be around 8 years old. That means he is probably around 12 – 13 years old today. And we have been refraining from rehoming him for some time now – because that would no longer do our Duc any favour. Over the years he has naturally become more and more special and sometimes quite unpredictable. Our senior dog has a few people at the shelter whom he really trusts and who take him for a walk every day and look after him – that’s what makes his life and he waits and looks forward to it every day. Of course, due to his age, he has deteriorated considerably recently and we don’t know how much longer he will live. We can only do everything we can to make his life at the shelter as “comfortable” as possible. Of course, Duc has his own enclosure with us – and that is and will remain his “home😔” until the end. In this enclosure there is a sun lounger – in a place where he has a good view of almost everything. This is his favourite spot. DUC – he is a sad example of many other, particularly large, black dogs who have not been given a real chance in life. And all that remains for us now is to keep a really close eye on him and do everything we can to ensure that he can experience his last life span with as much dignity as possible – and we have definitely promised him that 🙏❤.
