Era come un vecchio quando era un cucciolo, lui e suo fratello, rugoso e senza pelo. E lentamente iniziò a ricrescere i peli, la sua pelle si allungò, e il suo volto che aveva una tristezza brillò. Button si riprese, cresciuto e divenne un meraviglioso cane dolce. È un cucciolo buono e collaborativo, molto buono, un po' esitante all'inizio, ma comunque collaborativo e amorevole. Non è che meriti una casa più degli altri animali, solo perché ha avuto una difficile esperienza, ma lo vediamo nel rifugio, ci ricordiamo com'era, quanto ha sofferto e quanto è stato forte, e ci addolora che non abbia trovato la sua famiglia. Diremmo che non l'ha trovata perché ha estratto peli neri e marroni invece di bianchi e ricciuti, ma non vogliamo lamentarci. Non è l'unico in attesa, e forse aspetterà per molto tempo ancora. Animali come lui esistono infinitamente, ma per ciascuno di loro non ci sono vite infinite, ce n'è una sola, la loro. Button non è il cane più socievole del mondo, né il più comodo.
