Lucy ha fatto una sessione fotografica! Un enorme grazie alla volontaria fotografa Jane Jeffrey per averci fatto queste belle foto di Lucy! Lucy è una dolce cucciola di 11 anni, un Dachshund (ndata di nascita: 15/03/2015) che è entrata nel recupero dell'Oldies Club dopo la scomparsa del suo proprietario. È temporaneamente in un ambiente di accoglienza a Jedburgh per alcune settimane, dopodiché tornerà al suo precedente ambiente di accoglienza a Newcastle upon Tyne, a meno che non trovi una casa permanente in quel periodo. Sintesi: Lucy è una ragazza timida ma attiva, pesa 12,5 kg e misura 36 cm (14 pollici). Potrebbe essere un unico cane o vivere con un altro cane calmo e non alto. Ha bisogno di una casa solo per adulti, ma i bambini che visitano rispettando il suo spazio andrebbero bene e potrebbe convivere con un gatto sicuro. Ama la compagnia umana ma può essere lasciata quando devi uscire. Le piacciono due o tre passeggiate di mezz'ora al giorno. Può continuare più a lungo se vuoi! Si è abituata gradualmente: Lucy ha impiegato molto tempo per abituarsi al nuovo ambiente in accoglienza e alla perdita del suo umano. Era impeccabilmente comportata ma si teneva lontana dai suoi assistenti finché non ha capito che erano affidabili e gentili. È ancora timida davanti alla macchina fotografica, motivo per cui è necessaria una sessione fotografica! Può essere lasciata per 2-3 ore: Quando Lucy è arrivata nel rifugio, non voleva assolutamente essere lasciata sola. Ma la sua assistente l'ha abituata gradualmente e ora può stare da sola per un paio d'ore. Ora è abituata, ma fa un po' la faccia triste, mangia un premio e poi si sistema per dormire. Vorrebbe una casa dove qualcuno è presente la maggior parte del giorno. Può vivere con un cane calmo: Lucy va bene con altri cani fuori, purché non saltino su di lei o le si avvicinino in modo minaccioso, altrimenti farà un morso d'avvertimento per dir loro di andarsene. Va bene con il Jack Russell femmina del suo ambiente di accoglienza e l'assistente dice: "Lucy può vivere con un altro cane purché sia un cane calmo e anziano e non troppo alto. Ora va bene con il mio cane, fa sempre le sue cose, ma è contenta se Penny è vicino e vanno d'accordo. Lei odia i cani alti che si mettono sopra di lei o i cani giovani e vivaci". Può vivere con un gatto sicuro: Lucy non ha mai mostrato interesse per i gatti che vede fuori, nemmeno per il gatto del vicino. In effetti, non sembra avere molta impulsività cacciatrice, poiché ignora le trote e non gioca con i giocattoli. Essendo un cane così pacifico, si pensa che possa vivere con un gatto esperto dopo un'adeguata introduzione. Casa solo per adulti: Lucy è molto timida e i bambini possono essere troppi per lei. I bambini piccoli che visitano l'ambiente di accoglienza tendono a mantenersi a distanza e evitare di interagire con lei. Riuscirebbe a gestire i visitatori occasionali come i nipoti in una casa di riposo, ma probabilmente si allontanerà dalla situazione fino a quando non sarà sicura. Disposizione per dormire: Lucy dorme nel suo letto nella camera dei suoi assistenti. Sembrerebbe che abbia condiviso il letto del suo proprietario perché a volte prova a salire sul letto. Lucy dorme veramente bene, si distende e ronfa felicemente. Le piace rimanere a letto, nel suo comodo letto. Adora le passeggiate - ottima richiamo: Lucy adora le passeggiate e cammina molto bene sia con che senza guinzaglio. Resta vicino a te e ti aspetta. Si fermerà/attendrà quando glielo dici, poiché è una ragazza ubbidiente e il suo richiamo è ottimo. Attualmente ha due o tre passeggiate al giorno di circa 30 minuti a un'ora. Ha gambe corte ma ama le lunghe passeggiate, evitando naturalmente le buche profonde. Non è amante della macchina ma è buona: Devi sollevare Lucy per metterla in auto, ma si calma e resta silenziosa. Nella piccola auto della sua assistente, Lucy viaggia sul sedile anteriore con una cingia. Nell'auto più grande viaggia dietro su un cuscino con un collare. Non le piace essere in una gabbia/basket né in auto né a casa. I passatempi preferiti di Lucy: dormire, passeggiare, mangiare e stare con il suo umano. Cose che Lucy non ama: È un cane timido e si ritira dagli sconosciuti e dalle situazioni, ma non sembra stressarla molto – semplicemente si allontana e si toglie sensatamente dalla situazione. Prima non le piaceva essere lasciata sola ma i suoi assistenti stanno lavorando su questo e anche se preferisce la compagnia, può stare sola per brevi periodi. La casa ideale per Lucy: Una persona anziana o una coppia attiva si adatterebbe bene a Lucy, qualcuno che è in casa la maggior parte del tempo ma che ha la capacità di portarla per le interessanti passeggiate che ama. Note sulla salute: Lucy è sterilizzata, vaccinata, microchippata e ha avuto trattamenti per pulci e parassiti. Durante il controllo veterinario, Lucy è stata dichiarata sana e in buona salute. Ha un leggero aumento dei valori epatici, quindi recentemente ha avuto una scansione, ma tutto era normale. Potrebbe essere una buona idea dargli un supplemento regolare per il fegato. Lucy's had a photoshoot! Huge thanks to photography volunteer, Jane Jeffrey , for taking these lovely photos of Lucy for us! Cute little Lucy is an 11-year-old Dachshund (DOB: 15/03/2015) who came into the Oldies Club rescue after her owner sadly passed away. She is temporarily in a foster home in Jedburgh for a few weeks, after which she will be returning to her original foster home in Newcastle upon Tyne, unless she finds her forever home in the meantime. Summary: Lucy is a shy but active girl, weighing 12.5kg and she’s 36cm (14″) tall. She could either be an only dog, or live with a non-tall calm older dog. She needs an adult-only home, but visiting children who respect her space would be OK and she might be able to live with a confident cat. She loves human company but can be left when you need to go out. She enjoys two or three half-hour walks a day. She can keep going for longer if you want though! Gradually settled in: Lucy took quite a while to get used to her new surroundings in foster care and having lost her human. She was impeccably well behaved but would shy away from her foster carers until she eventually realised they were trustworthy and kind. She's still camera shy though, hence the need for a photoshoot! Can be left for 2-3 hours: When Lucy first arrived in rescue, she didn't like to be left alone at all. But her foster carer has got her used to being left gradually and can leave her for a few hours. She is used to this now, but sulks a bit, eats a treat, and then settles down to sleep. She would ideally love a home where someone is around for most of the day. Could live with a calm dog: Lucy is pretty good with other dogs out and about as long as they don't bounce up to her or loom over her, in which case she'll air snap to tell them to back off. She is fine the resident female Jack Russell in her foster home and her foster carer says: "Lucy could live with another dog as long as it is a calm, older dog and not too tall. She is okay with my dog now, she still just does her own thing, but is happy enough when Penny is near her and they bump along quite happily. She just hates tall dogs who stand over her or young bouncy dogs" . Could live with a confident cat: Lucy hasn't shown any interest in cats she sees outside, even the next door neighbour's cat. In fact, she doesn't seem to have much of a prey drive at all, as she ignores squirrels and doesn't play with toys. Being such a peaceable dog, it's thought she could live with a dog-savvy cat after careful introductions. Adult-only home: Lucy is very shy and can find children a bit too much. There have been young children visiting her foster home and she tends to keep to a safe distance and avoid interacting with them. She would cope with the occasional visiting grandchild in her retirement home, but probably by removing herself from the situation until the coast was clear again. Sleeping arrangements: Lucy sleeps in her own bed in her foster carers' bedroom. It seems that she may have shared her owner’s bed because she will try to get up on the bed sometimes. Lucy sleeps really well, spark out and snoring happily. She loves having a lie in, in her snuggly bed. Loves walks – excellent recall: Lucy loves a walk and she walks really well both on and off the lead. She stays near you and will wait for you. She will also stop/wait when told to do so, as she's an obedient girl and her recall is excellent. She currently has two or three walks a day of about 30 minutes to an hour. She might have short legs but she loves a long walk, avoiding deep puddles, naturally. Not fond of the car but is good: You have to lift Lucy in to the car, but she settles and is quiet. In her foster carer’s small car, Lucy travels on the front seat with a clip harness. In the larger car she travels in the back on a cushion with a leash clip on. She does not like being in a cage/basket at all, neither in the car nor in house. Lucy’s favourite pastimes: Sleeping, walking, eating and just being with her human. Lucy’s dislikes: She is a timid dog and shies away from unknown people and situations, but it doesn’t seem to overly stress her out – she just steps away and sensibly removes herself from the situation. She used to dislike being left alone but her foster carers have been working on this and although she still prefers to have company, she can be left for short periods. Lucy’s ideal home: An active older person or couple would suit Lucy, someone that is home most of the time but still has the ability to take her for the exciting walks that she loves. Health notes: Lucy is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and has been wormed and flea treated. At her vet check, Lucy was pronounced fit and healthy. She has a slightly high liver count, so recently had a scan, but everything was fine. It might be a good idea to give her a regular liver support supplement. More from Lucy’s foster carer: “ Lucy is a timid, sweet little dog – unless you are knocking on the front door, and then she sounds like the biggest guard dog ever! She will let you know when someone is coming to the house. However, she is fine when they come in, does not jump up at visitors, just lets you know, loudly, that they are there.
