La encantadora Lucy es una Dachshund de 11 años (Fecha de Nacimiento: 15/03/2015) que entró en el rescatado Oldies Club después de que su dueño tristemente falleciera. Ella está en un hogar de acogida en Newcastle upon Tyne mientras espera su perfecto hogar de retiro. Resumen: Lucy es una chica tímida pero activa, pesa 12,5 kg y mide 36 cm (14"). Puede ser un solo perro o vivir con un perro tranquilo y de edad avanzada. Necesita un hogar solo para adultos, pero los niños que visiten y respeten su espacio estarían bien y podría convivir con un gato seguro. Ama la compañía humana pero puede quedarse sola cuando usted necesite salir. Le gusta caminar dos o tres veces al día durante media hora o más. Si quiere, puede seguir caminando más tiempo. Se ha ido adaptando gradualmente: Lucy tardó bastante en acostumbrarse a sus nuevas condiciones en el cuidado de acogida y haber perdido a su humano. Fue impecablemente bien comportada pero se apartaba de sus cuidadores de acogida hasta que finalmente entendió que eran confiables y amables. Aún así es tímida con la cámara, por eso se necesitó una sesión de fotos. Puede estar sola 2-3 horas: Cuando Lucy llegó al rescate, no le gustaba estar sola en absoluto. Pero su cuidador de acogida la ha ido acostumbrando gradualmente y ahora puede estar sola varias horas. Ahora está acostumbrada, pero se enfada un poco, come un premio y luego se tranquiliza para dormir. Idealmente amaría un hogar donde alguien esté presente durante la mayor parte del día. Podría vivir con un perro tranquilo: Lucy es bastante buena con otros perros cuando están fuera, siempre que no vengan corriendo hacia ella o la sobrepasen, en cuyo caso ella dará una mordida para indicarles que se alejen. Está bien con el Jack Russell femenino residente en su hogar de acogida y su cuidador de acogida dice: "Lucy podría vivir con otro perro siempre que sea un perro tranquilo y de edad avanzada y no muy alto. Ella está bien con mi perro ahora, aún hace su propia cosa, pero está contenta cuando Penny está cerca y se llevan bastante bien. Solo odia a los perros altos que se ponen sobre ella o a los perros jóvenes y dinámicos". Podría vivir con un gato seguro: Lucy no ha mostrado interés por los gatos que ve fuera, incluso el gato del vecino de al lado. Por ser un perro pacífico, se cree que podría vivir con un gato que conozca a los perros tras una introducción cuidadosa. Hogar solo para adultos: Lucy es muy tímida y puede encontrar a los niños un poco demasiado. Ha habido niños pequeños visitando su hogar de acogida y tiende a mantenerse a una distancia segura y evitar interactuar con ellos. Podría soportar a un nieto ocasional en su hogar de retiro, pero probablemente se alejaría de la situación hasta que estuviese despejada. Disposición para dormir: Lucy duerme en su propia cama en la habitación de sus cuidadores de acogida. Parece que compartió la cama de su dueño, porque a veces intenta subirse a la cama. Aunque tiene patas cortas, ama una larga caminata, evitando pozos profundos, naturalmente. No le gusta el automóvil pero es bueno: Tienes que levantar a Lucy para meterla en el automóvil, pero se calma y se queda tranquila. En el pequeño automóvil de su cuidador de acogida, Lucy viaja en el asiento delantero con un arnés. En un automóvil más grande viaja en la parte trasera en un cojín con un gancho de correa. No le gusta estar en una jaula/bandeja en absoluto, ni en el automóvil ni en casa. Los pasatiempos favoritos de Lucy: Dormir, caminar, comer y estar con su humano. Disgustos de Lucy: Es un perro tímido y se aparta de personas desconocidas y situaciones, pero no parece que esto la estrese demasiado, simplemente se aleja y se retira sensatamente de la situación. Antes odiaba estar sola, pero sus cuidadores de acogida han trabajado en esto y aunque aún prefiere tener compañía, puede estar sola por periodos cortos. Hogar ideal para Lucy: Una persona o pareja activa de edad avanzada se ajustaría a Lucy, alguien que esté en casa la mayor parte del tiempo pero que tenga la capacidad de llevarla a las emocionantes caminatas que ama. Notas de salud: Lucy está castrada, vacunada, microchipada y ha sido desparasitada y tratada contra pulgas. En su revisión veterinaria, Lucy fue declarada sana y en buen estado. Tiene un recuento hepático ligeramente elevado, por lo que recientemente tuvo una exploración, pero todo estaba bien. Podría ser una buena idea darle un suplemento regular para apoyar el hígado. Más de la cuidadora de acogida de Lucy: "Lucy es un pequeño perro tímido y dulce, a menos que alguien esté llamando a la puerta principal, y entonces suena como el guardián más grande de todos los tiempos. Lucy's had a photoshoot! Huge thanks to photography volunteer, Jane Jeffrey , for taking these lovely photos of Lucy for us! Cute little Lucy is an 11-year-old Dachshund (DOB: 15/03/2015) who came into the Oldies Club rescue after her owner sadly passed away. She is temporarily in a foster home in Jedburgh for a few weeks, after which she will be returning to her original foster home in Newcastle upon Tyne, unless she finds her forever home in the meantime. Summary: Lucy is a shy but active girl, weighing 12.5kg and she’s 36cm (14″) tall. She could either be an only dog, or live with a non-tall calm older dog. She needs an adult-only home, but visiting children who respect her space would be OK and she might be able to live with a confident cat. She loves human company but can be left when you need to go out. She enjoys two or three half-hour walks a day. She can keep going for longer if you want though! Gradually settled in: Lucy took quite a while to get used to her new surroundings in foster care and having lost her human. She was impeccably well behaved but would shy away from her foster carers until she eventually realised they were trustworthy and kind. She's still camera shy though, hence the need for a photoshoot! Can be left for 2-3 hours: When Lucy first arrived in rescue, she didn't like to be left alone at all. But her foster carer has got her used to being left gradually and can leave her for a few hours. She is used to this now, but sulks a bit, eats a treat, and then settles down to sleep. She would ideally love a home where someone is around for most of the day. Could live with a calm dog: Lucy is pretty good with other dogs out and about as long as they don't bounce up to her or loom over her, in which case she'll air snap to tell them to back off. She is fine the resident female Jack Russell in her foster home and her foster carer says: "Lucy could live with another dog as long as it is a calm, older dog and not too tall. She is okay with my dog now, she still just does her own thing, but is happy enough when Penny is near her and they bump along quite happily. She just hates tall dogs who stand over her or young bouncy dogs" . Could live with a confident cat: Lucy hasn't shown any interest in cats she sees outside, even the next door neighbour's cat. In fact, she doesn't seem to have much of a prey drive at all, as she ignores squirrels and doesn't play with toys. Being such a peaceable dog, it's thought she could live with a dog-savvy cat after careful introductions. Adult-only home: Lucy is very shy and can find children a bit too much. There have been young children visiting her foster home and she tends to keep to a safe distance and avoid interacting with them. She would cope with the occasional visiting grandchild in her retirement home, but probably by removing herself from the situation until the coast was clear again. Sleeping arrangements: Lucy sleeps in her own bed in her foster carers' bedroom. It seems that she may have shared her owner’s bed because she will try to get up on the bed sometimes. Lucy sleeps really well, spark out and snoring happily. She loves having a lie in, in her snuggly bed. Loves walks – excellent recall: Lucy loves a walk and she walks really well both on and off the lead. She stays near you and will wait for you. She will also stop/wait when told to do so, as she's an obedient girl and her recall is excellent. She currently has two or three walks a day of about 30 minutes to an hour. She might have short legs but she loves a long walk, avoiding deep puddles, naturally. Not fond of the car but is good: You have to lift Lucy in to the car, but she settles and is quiet. In her foster carer’s small car, Lucy travels on the front seat with a clip harness. In the larger car she travels in the back on a cushion with a leash clip on. She does not like being in a cage/basket at all, neither in the car nor in house. Lucy’s favourite pastimes: Sleeping, walking, eating and just being with her human. Lucy’s dislikes: She is a timid dog and shies away from unknown people and situations, but it doesn’t seem to overly stress her out – she just steps away and sensibly removes herself from the situation. She used to dislike being left alone but her foster carers have been working on this and although she still prefers to have company, she can be left for short periods. Lucy’s ideal home: An active older person or couple would suit Lucy, someone that is home most of the time but still has the ability to take her for the exciting walks that she loves. Health notes: Lucy is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and has been wormed and flea treated. At her vet check, Lucy was pronounced fit and healthy. She has a slightly high liver count, so recently had a scan, but everything was fine. It might be a good idea to give her a regular liver support supplement. More from Lucy’s foster carer: “ Lucy is a timid, sweet little dog – unless you are knocking on the front door, and then she sounds like the biggest guard dog ever! She will let you know when someone is coming to the house. However, she is fine when they come in, does not jump up at visitors, just lets you know, loudly, that they are there.
