Adottare Gary

Dachshund · Maschio · Giovane · 2 anni

Gary is a very sweet and sensitive boy who has come to us from a breeder. He has now moved into foster and, despite his worries around people, has taken to home life like a duck to water. Everything is exciting to him, and he approaches the world with curiosity, happily exploring every room and taking new sights and sounds in his stride. Household noises don't seem to faze him at all. Gary has also discovered his playful side and has very much switched into "puppy mode". He is as cute as a button and is always looking for his next adventure. If you turn your back for a few minutes, there's a good chance he'll have found something interesting to carry around! Thankfully, he is happy for his foster carer to gently take items away from him. He enjoys his food and treats, loves playing with toys, appreciates the freedom of the garden, and has quickly decided that sleeping on the family bed is the perfect place to spend the night. Gary takes enormous comfort from the company of other dogs and is very dependent on his resident canine companions. He has formed a particularly lovely bond with the older male Dachshund in his foster home and is wonderfully determined to persuade him to join in with a game. Because of this, Gary will need at least one kind and confident resident dog in his forever home to help guide him, reassure him, and continue building his confidence. Although Gary has settled brilliantly into home life, he remains extremely frightened of human touch and handling. If he feels pressured or overwhelmed, he may react defensively out of fear. His adopters will need to understand that there will be no quick fix for this. Instead, they must be committed to earning his trust, respecting his boundaries, and allowing him to build confidence at his own pace through gentle, positive experiences. He is already showing what an intelligent and resilient little dog he is, and every small step forward is a huge achievement. As he is now in a home, he will begin to learn all about house training and lead walking when he is ready, lead walking. A secure garden will be essential, giving him a safe space to explore while he continues to gain confidence. Due to his sensitive nature, Gary is looking for a calm, adult-only home with experience of ex-breeding dogs, where he can settle without pressure and be accepted for who he is. Gary has come to us missing his left eye, but this doesn't slow him down in the slightest—if anything, it adds to his unique and endearing charm. Gary is a truly special little boy. He has already shown just how well he can adapt to family life when given patience and understanding. With adopters who are willing to invest the time to earn his trust, we have no doubt that he will grow into an incredibly loyal and rewarding companion and become a wonderful ambassador for his breed. At the time of his castration, Gary had one tooth removed. This dog can be homed with a resident dog.
