Mona è un incrocio di piccole dimensioni di sei anni. Mona e undici altri cuccioli e due cani madri sono stati salvati dalle strade della Romania. Erano molto spaventati e traumatici e Mona è stata inviata in una casa in Scozia. Nonostante fosse una famiglia dolce, non erano equipaggiati per gestire un cane così traumatizzato e abbiamo saputo della sua situazione l'anno scorso agosto quando ci è stato detto che nessuno era riuscito nemmeno a metterle un guinzaglio per uscire di casa e aveva trascorso la maggior parte dei cinque anni nascosta sotto il letto. Siamo andati da Norfolk in Scozia e tornati per prenderla e poi abbiamo iniziato il processo di riabilitazione. Mona si è comportata molto bene da quel momento ma adesso ha bisogno di un ambiente più "normale" con un solo a uno per proseguire nel suo progresso. Avrà bisogno di un adottatore molto esperto senza bambini in casa. Non sopporterebbe la vita in città e quindi necessiterà di una casa rurale o in un posto tranquillo senza molta traffico. Mona ha bisogno di un altro cane o cani come residenti permanenti poiché non sopporterebbe di essere l'unico cane. Mona avrà bisogno di un padrone paziente e comprensivo. In effetti, ama i complimenti a suo modo e può essere molto affettuosa una volta che conosce bene te. Ha bisogno di continuare a crescere nella fiducia durante le passeggiate e non vuole che nessuno cammini dietro di lei. Ha vissuto molto bene con i gatti. Mona è stata in affidamento a Norwich Norfolk. Se sei interessato, invia un messaggio o chiama tra le 9:00 e le 17:00 dal lunedì al venerdì o tra le 9:00 e le 16:00 sabato. Tariffe di donazione per l'adozione Dal 1° dicembre 2025: Cuccioli già castrati e tutti i cani adulti: £430. Cuccioli non castrati su contratti di castrazione: £530 (riceverai un rimborso di £100 una volta che ci invierai la prova della castrazione). Cani anziani (10+ anni): £150-£250 (in base all'età e alle esigenze individuali). Politica di adozione Quando adotti un cane di Safe Rescue, DEVI utilizzare un guinzaglio a scatto. Questo terrà sicuro il tuo cane: il tuo nuovo cane sarà nervoso e non ti farà fiducia, e non saprai quali situazioni potrebbero turbare il tuo cane. Se il tuo cane si spaventa, allora un guinzaglio a scatto è l'unica via per evitare che il cane scappi (molti cani possono scappare da collare e/o finimenti). Occorreranno ALMENO 3-6 mesi per far abituare il tuo cane e per conoscerlo pienamente (più a lungo per i cani nervosi). Il guinzaglio a scatto deve SEMPRE essere utilizzato durante questo periodo di abitudine. Anche dopo che il tuo cane si è abituato, è più sicuro utilizzare il guinzaglio a scatto in situazioni dove il cane potrebbe spaventarsi (es. visitare luoghi nuovi, intorno a persone sconosciute, dal veterinario), e in situazioni dove potrebbero verificarsi scatenanti inaspettati (es. intorno alla notte del falò). I cani nervosi potrebbero sempre dover indossare un guinzaglio a scatto come misura di sicurezza aggiuntiva. Il guinzaglio a scatto è un dispositivo di sicurezza e mai deve essere utilizzato come strumento di addestramento. Usare il guinzaglio per esercitare pressione sul collo del cane è dannoso. Se il tuo cane tira sul guinzaglio, possiamo consigliarti metodi di addestramento che evitino danno. Una volta che il tuo cane si è abituato, potresti voler considerare l'utilizzo di una cingia (insieme al guinzaglio a scatto) se il cane è a suo agio con essere maneggiato quando è fissato. La maggior parte delle cingie non è anti-scappamento, ma quelle con una cingia dietro le costole (es. Ruffwear Webmaster o Perfect Fit Harnesses) sono più sicure. Mona is a six year old smallish crossbreed. Mona and eleven other puppies and two mum dogs were rescued from the streets of Romania. They were very scared and traumatised and Mona was sent to a home in Scotland. Despite being a lovely family they were not equipped to deal with such a traumatised dog and we heard of her plight last August when we were told that nobody had even been able to get her on a lead to leave the house and she’d spent the best part of five years hiding under the bed. We drove from Norfolk to Scotland and back to collect her and then began the journey of her rehabilitation. Mona has done very well since that time but now needs a more “Normal” one to one environment to continue to progress. She will need a very experienced adopter(s) with no children in the home. She wouldn’t cope with city life and therefore needs a rural home or somewhere tranquil without a lot of traffic. Mona needs another dog or dogs as permanent residents as she would not cope with being an only dog. Mona will need a patient and understanding owner. She actually enjoys a fuss on her own terms and can be very affectionate once she knows you well. She needs to continue to grow in confidence on walks and doesn’t like anybody to walk behind her. Un-neutered puppies on spay/neuter contracts: £530 (You will receive a £100 rebate once you send us proof of neutering). Senior dogs (10+ years): £150–£250 (depending on age and individual needs). Adoption Policy When you adopt a Safe Rescue dog, you MUST use a slip lead. This will keep your dog safe: your new dog will be nervous and will not trust you, and you will not know which situations might upset your dog. If your dog panics, then a slip lead is the only way to prevent your dog from escaping (many dogs can escape from a collar and/or harness). It will take AT LEAST 3-6 months for your dog to settle-in and for you to know your dog fully (longer for nervous dogs). The slip lead must ALWAYS be used during this settling-in period. Even after your dog is settled, it is safest to use the slip lead in situations where your dog may become scared (e.g. visiting new places, around unfamiliar people, at the vet), and it situations where unexpected triggers might happen (e.g. around bonfire night). Nervous dogs may always need to wear a slip-lead as a back-up safety measure. The slip lead is a safety device and must NEVER be used as a training tool. Using the lead to apply pressure to the dog’s neck is damaging. If your dog pulls on the lead, then we can advise you on training methods that avoid harm. Once your dog is settled, you may want to consider using a harness (together with the slip lead) if your dog is comfortable with being handled when it is fitted. Most harnesses are not escape-proof, but harnesses with a strap behind the ribcage (e.g. Ruffwear Webmaster or Perfect Fit Harnesses) are safer. Retractable / extendable leads must never be used on our dogs. Adopted dogs must be collected from the rescue and transported straight home in a crate. Fences and gates must be 5ft min & secure.
