Queenie è un incrocio collie di media taglia con circa cinque o sei anni. Mi è sembrato che Queenie fosse un gioiello nascosto, persa tra la folla nel rifugio pubblico di Botosani in Romania quando siamo stati a ottobre. Non so neppure se fosse lì in viaggi precedenti, se lo era non l'ho vista. Mentre stavo fuori da una recinzione ho visto il movimento della coda da uno dei canili e poi il suo nasino che spuntava coraggiosamente per provare a fare amicizia. Sono entrata nella recinzione e mi sono inginocchiata al suo livello e dopo pochi secondi di parlare dolcemente con lei si è avvicinata e ha posato la testa sul mio ginocchio. Sono stata convinta e lei era in lista per venire nel Regno Unito. Le ho messo un guinzaglio e siamo uscite dal rifugio sui campi e aveva la migliore esperienza da molto tempo. I bei momenti continueranno ora che è in Inghilterra, ha solo bisogno del suo nuovo posto fisso. Queenie è una ragazza sottomessa che vorrebbe un ambiente domestico tranquillo. Può vivere con altri cani ma preferisce cani che le diano un po' di spazio e non saltino su di lei o le si avvicinino troppo. Sarebbe molto felice come unico cane in casa. Vorrebbe un ambiente domestico adulto con qualcuno con esperienza con i collie. Questo cane ha superato il test con i gatti quindi può vivere con gatti esperti. Queenie ha fatto un periodo di addestramento con Norwich Norfolk. Se sei interessato, invia un messaggio o chiama tra le 9 e le 17 da lunedì a venerdì o tra le 9 e le 16 sabato. Le tariffe di adozione Da 1° dicembre 2025 le cucciolate già sterilizzate e tutti i cani adulti: £430. Cuccioli non sterilizzati con contratto di sterilizzazione: £530 (riceverai un rimborso di £100 una volta che ci invierai la prova della sterilizzazione). Cani anziani (10+ anni): £150-£250 (a seconda dell'età e delle esigenze individuali). Politica di adozione Quando adotti un cane di Safe Rescue, DEVI usare un guinzaglio a scorrimento. Questo terrà sicuro il tuo cane: il tuo nuovo cane sarà nervoso e non ti farà fiducia, e non saprai quali situazioni potrebbero turbare il tuo cane. Se il tuo cane si spaventa, allora il guinzaglio a scorrimento è l'unica via per evitare che scappi (molti cani possono scappare da collari e/o pettorine). Ci vorrà ALMENO 3-6 mesi perché il cane si abitui e tu possa conoscere totalmente il tuo cane (più a lungo per i cani timidi). Il guinzaglio a scorrimento deve essere SEMPRE utilizzato durante questo periodo di abitudine. Anche dopo che il cane è abituato, è più sicuro usare il guinzaglio a scorrimento in situazioni dove il cane potrebbe spaventarsi (es. visite a luoghi nuovi, vicino a persone sconosciute, dal veterinario), e in situazioni dove potrebbero verificarsi trigger imprevisti (es. intorno alla notte di San Silvestro). I cani timidi potranno sempre indossare il guinzaglio a scorrimento come misura di sicurezza aggiuntiva. Il guinzaglio a scorrimento è un dispositivo di sicurezza e mai utilizzato come strumento di addestramento. Applicare pressione sul collo del cane usando il guinzaglio è dannoso. Se il tuo cane tira il guinzaglio, possiamo consigliarti metodi di addestramento che evitino danni. Una volta che il cane si è abituato, potresti considerare l'utilizzo di una pettorina (insieme al guinzaglio a scorrimento) se il cane è a suo agio quando viene indossata. La maggior parte delle pettorine non è anti-scappamento, ma le pettorine con una cingia dietro le costole (es. Ruffwear Webmaster o Perfect Fit Harnesses) sono più sicure. Queenie is a medium sized collie cross aged around five to six years old. I felt like Queenie was a hidden gem, lost in the crowds at the Botosani public shelter in Romania when we visited in October. I don’t even know if she was there on previous trips, if she was I didn’t see her. As I was stood outside a pen I saw the flicker of a wag of a tail from inside one of the dog houses, and then her little nose poking out daring herself to come and make friends. I entered the pen and bobbed down to her level and after just a few seconds of talking softly to her she crept forward and put her head on my knee. I was sold and she was on the list to come to the UK. I put a slip lead on her and we walked out of the shelter onto the fields and she had the best time she’d had in a very long time. The good times will keep rolling now that she’s in the UK, she just needs her forever home. Queenie is a submissive girl that would like a quiet home environment. She can live with other dogs but likes dogs that give her a bit of space and don’t jump all over her or get in her face. She’d be very happy to be an only dog in the home. She would like an adult home environment with someone with collie experience. This dog has passed their cat testing so can live with dog savvy cats. Queenie fostered Norwich Norfolk. Adoption Policy When you adopt a Safe Rescue dog, you MUST use a slip lead. This will keep your dog safe: your new dog will be nervous and will not trust you, and you will not know which situations might upset your dog. If your dog panics, then a slip lead is the only way to prevent your dog from escaping (many dogs can escape from a collar and/or harness). It will take AT LEAST 3-6 months for your dog to settle-in and for you to know your dog fully (longer for nervous dogs). The slip lead must ALWAYS be used during this settling-in period. Even after your dog is settled, it is safest to use the slip lead in situations where your dog may become scared (e.g. visiting new places, around unfamiliar people, at the vet), and it situations where unexpected triggers might happen (e.g. around bonfire night). Nervous dogs may always need to wear a slip-lead as a back-up safety measure. The slip lead is a safety device and must NEVER be used as a training tool. Using the lead to apply pressure to the dog’s neck is damaging. If your dog pulls on the lead, then we can advise you on training methods that avoid harm. Once your dog is settled, you may want to consider using a harness (together with the slip lead) if your dog is comfortable with being handled when it is fitted. Most harnesses are not escape-proof, but harnesses with a strap behind the ribcage (e.g. Ruffwear Webmaster or Perfect Fit Harnesses) are safer. Retractable / extendable leads must never be used on our dogs. Adopted dogs must be collected from the rescue and transported straight home in a crate. Fences and gates must be 5ft min & secure.
