Karmel (in Remiel shelter) is a sheepdog with a unique, reddish-chocolate coat. He was born in 2024. Karmel arrived at the shelter in July 2026 with his brother, Dino (in Suriel shelter). Both dogs were left to their own devices for a long time - they lived in a pen outside the property, practically without contact with the world and humans. Recently, with the help of his brother, Karmel began to warm up to one person, and the more time we spend with them, the more we see how different these two dogs are. Dino is a dominant dog. He systematically tries to show his brother "who's boss." And Karmel? Karmel gets the worst of it. During meals or other more sensitive situations between the brothers, there are minor conflicts. They are not dangerous situations, but Karmel has a lot of old scars, and on his muzzle you can see many white hairs. It all suggests that the tensions between the brothers did not start yesterday. And that's probably why Karmel is the way he is. He is a huge, loving slob who can enjoy life like a child. And at the same time - an extremely timid, submissive and cautious dog towards humans and his own brother. Just a negative glance in his direction, and Karmel would rather lie down, tremble and submit, rather than even try to fight for his own. There is no aggression in him, but there is a huge need for security. The brothers were housed in the same box after the intervention, because in the acclimatization phase, this was the best solution for them. They knew each other, they were their only point of reference and mutual support in a completely new, difficult situation. And they are still supporting each other. But... hormones are doing their thing, and we are increasingly seeing that Karmel needs a chance to live without his brother by his side. That's why we're looking for separate homes for them. For Karmel - in particular. Karmel is a very obedient, submissive and gentle dog. We suspect that he could easily get along with another dog, but we definitely would not want his new canine companion to be another equally dominant individual. Karmel is an unsociable dog, he still can't walk on a leash. He also doesn't know the city and the urban hustle and bustle. He is slowly getting used to people. There is no aggression in him, but in a situation where he feels threatened, panic and great fear may occur. That's why we're looking for him primarily in a temporary home, where he can slowly get to know normal life and build his confidence with a calm, patient person. We hope that when at least half of his fears are overcome, the shelter will perform the castration procedure and Karmel will be able to stay in his temporary home forever. Karmel should be isolated from his brother as soon as possible. Right now the situation is very difficult for us - we don't even have a free box, all of them are filled to the brim. We dream of a quiet home with a well-fenced area, where Karmel, with the help of food motivation and a huge dose of patience, can slowly get used to his human. Karmel is already starting to trust. He just needs someone to show him that a human can be safe, that you don't have to cower, you don't have to be afraid.

Karmel trafił do schroniska w lipcu 2026 razem ze swoim bratem, Dino (w schronisku Suriel). Oba psy przez długi czas pozostawione były same sobie – mieszkały w kojcu poza posesją, praktycznie bez kontaktu ze światem i człowiekiem. Niedawno, z pomocą brata, Karmel zaczął przekonywać się do jednego człowieka i im więcej czasu z nimi spędzamy, tym wyraźniej widzimy, jak bardzo różnią się od siebie te dwa psy. Dino to pies dominujący. Systematycznie próbuje pokazywać bratu „kto tu rządzi”. A Karmel? Karmel obrywa. Przy jedzeniu czy w innych bardziej newralgicznych sytuacjach między braćmi dochodzi do niewielkich konfliktów. Nie są to sytuacje groźne, ale Karmel ma sporo starych blizn, a na jego pysku widać wiele białych włosków. Wszystko wskazuje na to, że napięcia między braćmi nie zaczęły się wczoraj. I chyba właśnie dlatego Karmel jest taki, jaki jest. To ogromna, kochana ciapa, która potrafi cieszyć się jak dziecko. A jednocześnie – pies niezwykle zahukany, uległy i ostrożny wobec człowieka i wobec własnego brata. Wystarczy negatywne spojrzenie w jego kierunku, żeby Karmel wolał przypaść do ziemi, zatrząść się i poddać, zamiast choćby spróbować zawalczyć o swoje. Nie ma w nim agresji, jest za to ogromna potrzeba bezpieczeństwa. Bracia po interwencji zamieszkali w jednym boksie, bo w fazie aklimatyzacji było to dla nich najlepsze rozwiązanie. Znali siebie, byli dla siebie jedynym punktem odniesienia i wzajemnym wsparciem w zupełnie nowej, trudnej sytuacji. I nadal są dla siebie wsparciem. Ale… hormony robią swoje, a my coraz wyraźniej widzimy, że Karmel potrzebuje szansy na życie bez brata u boku. Dlatego szukamy dla nich zdecydowanie osobnych domów. Dla Karmela – w szczególności. Karmel jest psem bardzo karnym, uległym i łagodnym. Podejrzewamy, że śmiało mógłby dogadać się z innym psem, ale zdecydowanie nie chcielibyśmy, aby jego nowy psi kompan był kolejnym równie dominującym osobnikiem. Karmel jest psem niesocjalizowanym, nie potrafi jeszcze chodzić na smyczy. Nie zna też miasta i miejskiego zgiełku. Do ludzi przyzwyczaja się powoli. Nie ma w nim agresji, ale w sytuacji, w której poczuje zagrożenie, może pojawić się panika i ogromny lęk. Dlatego szukamy dla niego przede wszystkim domu tymczasowego, w którym przy spokojnym, cierpliwym człowieku będzie mógł krok po kroku poznawać normalne życie i budować pewność siebie. Mamy nadzieję, że gdy tylko choć połowa jego lęków zostanie pokonana, schronisko wykona zabieg kastracji i Karmel będzie mógł pozostać w swoim domu tymczasowym już na zawsze. Karmel jak najszybciej powinien zostać odizolowany od brata. W tej chwili sytuacja jest dla nas bardzo trudna – nie mamy nawet wolnego boksu, wszystkie są zapełnione po brzegi. Najbardziej marzymy o spokojnym domu z dobrze ogrodzonym terenem, gdzie Karmel, przy pomocy motywacji pokarmowej i ogromnej dawki cierpliwości, będzie mógł powoli przekonywać się do swojego człowieka. Karmel już zaczyna ufać. Potrzebuje tylko kogoś, kto pokaże mu, że człowiek może być bezpieczny, że nie trzeba się kulić, nie trzeba się bać.
