Holiday kwam oorspronkelijk bij ons van een fokker. Ze werd geadopteerd en vond een fijne thuis, maar helaas was het geen juiste combinatie voor haar en de inheemse hond wilde haar niet accepteren, dus is ze nu opnieuw in onze zorg. Holiday is een erg bang meisje dat overweldigd raakt door haar aanwezigheid hier en heeft duidelijk niet veel socialisatie gehad voorheen. Ze vindt menselijke interactie momenteel erg moeilijk en is erg handvriendelijk, dus ze zal een geduldig en begripvolle huis nodig hebben dat haar kan helpen om op haar eigen tempo haar schulp te verlaten. Holiday rent weg als je haar kooi binnenkomt en is niet dol op worden opgepakt of aangepakt. Ze vindt dit zo angstwekkend dat ze mogelijk bij het gevoel dat ze haar comfortzone wordt overgeslagen, kan reageren met beetjes of bijten uit angst. Ze beet haar voorgaande adoptant ooit één keer toen ze overweldigd raakte tijdens het aanpakken. Sinds haar terugkeer bij ons, heeft Holiday al enige echt moedvolle voortgang geboekt. Ze vertrouwt mensen elke dag meer en heeft zelfs toegestaan dat er zachtjes een riem werd aangelegd, wat een grote stap vooruit is voor haar. We werken ook aan heel zachte aanraking, steeds volledig op haar eigen voorwaarden. Wanneer ze ervoor kiest om naast u in haar bed te zitten, wordt ze gesteund om dingen stap voor stap te doen, vertrouwen op te bouwen via rustige interactie en positieve beloningen. Holiday laat ook steeds meer haar persoonlijkheid zien. Ze is vaak een van de eersten die voor een lekkernij komt, en ze heeft zelfs begonnen met wuiven met haar staart. Terwijl het misschien een klein ding lijkt, is het voor Holiday een echte belangrijke mijlpaal en een liefdevol teken dat ze zich iets veiliger begint te voelen. Vanwege deze reden zal Holiday nog steeds op zoek zijn naar een rustig en stil, alleen voor volwassenen geschikt huis zonder bezoekende kinderen. Ze zal afnemers nodig hebben die ervaring hebben met bang gemaakte voormalige fokhonden en die haar laten wennen langzaam, zonder druk of verwachtingen. Holiday vindt troost en geruststelling in de aanwezigheid van haar hondenvrienden en zal minstens één andere vriendelijke en zelfverzekerde inheemse hond nodig hebben in haar nieuwe huis. Ze vormt sterke banden met andere honden en krijgt vertrouwen door naast hen te zijn, vaak op hen aangewezen voor geruststelling en richting. Hoewel ze een tijdje in een tijdelijke pleeggezin was en kortstondig geadopteerd werd, had ze nog nooit in een huis gewoond, dus Holiday moet nog leren alles over huisleven, inclusief afbrengen. Ze zal ook geleidelijk moeten leren om een riem en een leiband te dragen, doorgaan op haar eigen tempo terwijl haar vertrouwen groeit. Holiday is erop vooruitgaand, maar ze heeft tijd, geduld en begrip nodig om verder te gaan. Het wordt gevoeld dat ze er veel baat bij zou hebben om in een woningomgeving te zijn, waar ze een sterke band kan opbouwen met haar adoptanten en haar reis voortzet in een rustiger, consistenter klimaat. Holiday is een heel bijzonder meisje dat iemand nodig heeft die langzaam gaat en haar vertrouwen winnen, maar voor het juiste huis zullen de beloningen ongelooflijk betekenisvol zijn. Er is altijd iemand voor elk hondje, en Holiday wacht geduldig op de hare. Deze hond kan in een huis met een inheemse hond worden geplaatst.

Holiday originally came to us from a breeder. She was adopted and found a lovely home, but sadly it wasn't the right match for her as the resident dog wouldn't accept her, so she came back into our care. Holiday has since moved into foster care where she has settled beautifully and has made some wonderful progress. Holiday is a very sensitive girl who had very little socialisation before coming into our care. When she first returned to us, she found people incredibly worrying and was very hand-shy. Her first instinct was always to run away, and she wasn't comfortable being picked up or handled. If she felt pushed beyond her comfort zone, she could react by nipping out of fear, so her adopters will need to understand her body language and never push her further than she is comfortable with. Since moving into foster care, Holiday has come along in leaps and bounds and is growing in confidence every week. She will now happily stay on the sofa while her foster family are in the room and will even accept gentle strokes while she is there. She knows the command 'touch' and will happily touch her foster's hand when asked. She is also very happy to jump up at their legs when she knows treats are coming! She is becoming much more engaged with people and will often look to her foster for reassurance, wagging her tail and enjoying being part of family life. Holiday can now have a harness put on, although she is still a little unsure about it and will make herself as heavy as possible while it is being fitted! She has also discovered that walks can be great fun and is now enjoying walks through the park with her bestie. She looks back at her foster constantly and wags her tail, which is lovely to see. She even recently visited a dog activity centre with 11 other family dogs and absolutely loved it! Holiday has also shown that she can travel well with her canine friends. She doesn't like enclosed spaces, so a crate isn't suitable for her, but she travelled beautifully in the van with her friends using double seatbelts. She was a very good girl throughout her trip back to the centre, where she also had a lovely haircut and her vaccinations. Holiday will still be looking for a calm, quiet, adult-only home with no visiting children. She will need adopters who are experienced with scared ex-breeding dogs and who are happy to continue building her confidence at her own pace. She relies heavily on other dogs for comfort and reassurance and would definitely like a home with more than one kind and confident resident dog to help guide her. Minus her brief adoption, Holiday had never lived in a home before, but she has settled brilliantly into foster care and has established a lovely routine. She is now mostly clean in the house and has only had one overnight accident when she had a poorly tummy. She absolutely adores the other dogs and takes great comfort from having her canine friends around her. Holiday is a very special little girl who has already come such a long way. She is learning that people can be kind and that home life can be fun, and it is wonderful to see her confidence growing. She still has a journey ahead of her, but with patient and experienced adopters, plenty of understanding and the support of her canine friends, we hope she will continue to blossom and enjoy everything her new life has to offer. Holiday has a Grade 1 heart murmur. This doesn't require any medication at the moment but is something her adopters and their vet will need to monitor going forwards. This dog can be homed with a resident dog.
