Holiday est venue chez nous à partir d'un éleveur. Elle a été adoptée et a trouvé une belle maison, mais malheureusement ce n'était pas le bon match pour elle et le chien résident ne l'a pas acceptée, donc elle est maintenant de retour dans notre care. Holiday est une fille très effrayée qui est submergée par sa présence ici et n'a clairement pas eu beaucoup de socialisation avant cela. Elle trouve l'interaction humaine très difficile en ce moment et est très craintive, donc elle aura besoin d'un foyer patient et compréhensif qui puisse l'aider à sortir de sa coquille à son propre rythme. Holiday fuit quand on entre dans sa cage et n'a pas envie d'être prise ou manipulée. Cela la rend si effrayée qu'elle pourrait réagir en mordant ou en griffant par peur si elle se sent poussée au-delà de sa zone de confort. Elle a mordu son ancien adopteur une fois lorsqu'elle a été submergée pendant la manipulation. Depuis son retour chez nous, Holiday a commencé à faire des progrès encourageants. Elle fait plus confiance aux gens chaque jour et a même permis un ajustement doux de harnais, ce qui est un grand pas en avant pour elle. Nous travaillons également sur un toucher très doux, toujours entièrement à ses termes. Quand elle choisit de venir s'asseoir à côté de vous dans son lit, elle est soutenue pour aller pas à pas, en construisant sa confiance par des interactions calmes et des récompenses positives. Holiday commence également à montrer plus de sa personnalité. Elle est souvent l'une des premières à venir chercher une friandise, et elle a même commencé à remuer la queue. Bien que cela semble être une petite chose, pour Holiday c'est un véritable jalon spécial et un bel indicateur qu'elle commence à se sentir un peu plus en sécurité. Pour cette raison, Holiday cherchera encore un foyer calme et silencieux, uniquement pour adultes, sans enfants. Elle aura besoin d'adoptants ayant de l'expérience avec les chiens ex-éleveurs effrayés et qui lui permettront de s'installer lentement, sans pression ou attentes. Holiday trouve du réconfort et de la sécurité en compagnie de ses amis canins et aura besoin d'au moins un autre chien aimant et confiant dans sa nouvelle maison. Elle forme des liens étroits avec d'autres chiens et gagne en confiance en étant à côté d'eux, souvent en comptant sur eux pour du réconfort et des indications. Bien qu'elle ait passé un certain temps en famille d'accueil et ait été adoptée pendant une courte période, elle n'avait jamais vécu dans une maison avant cela, donc Holiday devra encore apprendre tout sur la vie en famille, y compris l'entraînement à la maison. Elle aura aussi besoin de progresser graduellement pour porter un harnais et une laisse, en continuant à son propre rythme à mesure que sa confiance augmente. Holiday est en voie d'amélioration, mais elle a besoin de temps, de patience et de compréhension pour continuer à progresser. On pense qu'elle bénéficiera grandement d'un environnement familial, où elle pourra former un lien étroit avec ses adoptants et poursuivre son parcours dans un endroit plus calme et plus constant. Holiday est une jeune fille très spéciale qui aura besoin de quelqu'un prêt à aller lentement et à gagner sa confiance, mais pour la bonne maison, les récompenses seront incroyablement significatives. Il y a toujours quelqu'un pour chaque chien, et Holiday attend patiemment la sienne. Ce chien peut être adopté avec un chien résident.

Holiday originally came to us from a breeder. She was adopted and found a lovely home, but sadly it wasn't the right match for her as the resident dog wouldn't accept her, so she came back into our care. Holiday has since moved into foster care where she has settled beautifully and has made some wonderful progress. Holiday is a very sensitive girl who had very little socialisation before coming into our care. When she first returned to us, she found people incredibly worrying and was very hand-shy. Her first instinct was always to run away, and she wasn't comfortable being picked up or handled. If she felt pushed beyond her comfort zone, she could react by nipping out of fear, so her adopters will need to understand her body language and never push her further than she is comfortable with. Since moving into foster care, Holiday has come along in leaps and bounds and is growing in confidence every week. She will now happily stay on the sofa while her foster family are in the room and will even accept gentle strokes while she is there. She knows the command 'touch' and will happily touch her foster's hand when asked. She is also very happy to jump up at their legs when she knows treats are coming! She is becoming much more engaged with people and will often look to her foster for reassurance, wagging her tail and enjoying being part of family life. Holiday can now have a harness put on, although she is still a little unsure about it and will make herself as heavy as possible while it is being fitted! She has also discovered that walks can be great fun and is now enjoying walks through the park with her bestie. She looks back at her foster constantly and wags her tail, which is lovely to see. She even recently visited a dog activity centre with 11 other family dogs and absolutely loved it! Holiday has also shown that she can travel well with her canine friends. She doesn't like enclosed spaces, so a crate isn't suitable for her, but she travelled beautifully in the van with her friends using double seatbelts. She was a very good girl throughout her trip back to the centre, where she also had a lovely haircut and her vaccinations. Holiday will still be looking for a calm, quiet, adult-only home with no visiting children. She will need adopters who are experienced with scared ex-breeding dogs and who are happy to continue building her confidence at her own pace. She relies heavily on other dogs for comfort and reassurance and would definitely like a home with more than one kind and confident resident dog to help guide her. Minus her brief adoption, Holiday had never lived in a home before, but she has settled brilliantly into foster care and has established a lovely routine. She is now mostly clean in the house and has only had one overnight accident when she had a poorly tummy. She absolutely adores the other dogs and takes great comfort from having her canine friends around her. Holiday is a very special little girl who has already come such a long way. She is learning that people can be kind and that home life can be fun, and it is wonderful to see her confidence growing. She still has a journey ahead of her, but with patient and experienced adopters, plenty of understanding and the support of her canine friends, we hope she will continue to blossom and enjoy everything her new life has to offer. Holiday has a Grade 1 heart murmur. This doesn't require any medication at the moment but is something her adopters and their vet will need to monitor going forwards. This dog can be homed with a resident dog.
