Holiday è arrivata da noi da un allevatore. È stata adottata e ha trovato una bellissima casa, ma purtroppo non era la giusta combinazione per lei e il cane residente non l'ha accettata, quindi ora è di nuovo sotto la nostra cura. Holiday è una ragazza molto timida che si sente sopraffatta nel trovarsi qui e chiaramente non ha avuto molta socializzazione in precedenza. Ha difficoltà con l'interazione umana al momento ed è molto timida con le mani, quindi avrà bisogno di una casa paziente e comprensiva che possa aiutarla a uscire dal suo guscio a suo modo. Quando entra nella sua gabbia, Holiday scappa e non è interessata a essere presa o gestita. Trova questa situazione così spaventosa che, se si sente spinta oltre il suo comfort, potrebbe reagire mordendo o pizzicando per paura. Ha morso una volta il suo precedente adottatore quando si è sentita sopraffatta durante il contatto. Da quando è tornata da noi, Holiday ha cominciato a fare progressi davvero incoraggianti. Sta iniziando a fidarsi sempre di più delle persone ogni giorno e ha anche permesso l'inserimento dolce di una guinzaglio, un grande passo avanti per lei. Abbiamo anche lavorato su toccamenti molto delicati, sempre completamente sulle sue condizioni. Quando sceglie di sedersi accanto a te nel suo letto, viene supportata nel prendere i passi uno alla volta, costruendo la fiducia attraverso interazioni calme e premi positivi. Holiday sta iniziando anche a mostrare sempre di più la sua personalità. È spesso tra i primi a venire per un premio e ha iniziato perfino a muovere la coda. Anche se potrebbe sembrare una piccola cosa, per Holiday questo è un vero punto di svolta e un bellissimo segno che sta iniziando a sentirsi un po' più sicura. Per questo motivo, Holiday cercherà ancora una casa tranquilla e silenziosa, esclusivamente per adulti, senza bambini in visita. Avrà bisogno di adottatori che hanno esperienza con cani ex allevatori spaventati e che le permetteranno di ambientarsi lentamente, senza pressione o aspettative. Holiday trova conforto e rassicurazione dalla compagnia dei suoi amici canini e avrà bisogno di almeno un altro cane gentile e sicuro nel suo nuovo ambiente. Forma legami stretti con gli altri cani e guadagna fiducia essendo accanto a loro, spesso affidandosi a loro per rassicurazione e guida. Anche se ha trascorso un certo periodo in famiglia di appoggio ed è stata adottata per un breve periodo, non aveva mai vissuto in una casa prima di questo, quindi Holiday dovrà ancora imparare tutto sulla vita in casa, incluso l'addestramento al bagno. Avrà anche bisogno di abituarsi gradualmente all'uso del guinzaglio e della cingia, proseguendo a suo ritmo mentre cresce la sua fiducia. Holiday sta andando bene, ma ha bisogno di tempo, pazienza e comprensione per continuare a progredire. Si ritiene che ne trarrebbe grandi benefici vivendo in un ambiente domestico, dove può creare un forte legame con i suoi adottatori e proseguire il suo percorso in un contesto più tranquillo e costante. Holiday è una ragazza molto speciale che avrà bisogno di qualcuno disponibile a procedere lentamente e a guadagnare la sua fiducia, ma per la giusta casa, i risultati saranno estremamente significativi. C'è sempre qualcuno per ogni cane e Holiday è pazientemente in attesa della sua. Questo cane può essere adottato con un cane residente.

Holiday originally came to us from a breeder. She was adopted and found a lovely home, but sadly it wasn't the right match for her as the resident dog wouldn't accept her, so she came back into our care. Holiday has since moved into foster care where she has settled beautifully and has made some wonderful progress. Holiday is a very sensitive girl who had very little socialisation before coming into our care. When she first returned to us, she found people incredibly worrying and was very hand-shy. Her first instinct was always to run away, and she wasn't comfortable being picked up or handled. If she felt pushed beyond her comfort zone, she could react by nipping out of fear, so her adopters will need to understand her body language and never push her further than she is comfortable with. Since moving into foster care, Holiday has come along in leaps and bounds and is growing in confidence every week. She will now happily stay on the sofa while her foster family are in the room and will even accept gentle strokes while she is there. She knows the command 'touch' and will happily touch her foster's hand when asked. She is also very happy to jump up at their legs when she knows treats are coming! She is becoming much more engaged with people and will often look to her foster for reassurance, wagging her tail and enjoying being part of family life. Holiday can now have a harness put on, although she is still a little unsure about it and will make herself as heavy as possible while it is being fitted! She has also discovered that walks can be great fun and is now enjoying walks through the park with her bestie. She looks back at her foster constantly and wags her tail, which is lovely to see. She even recently visited a dog activity centre with 11 other family dogs and absolutely loved it! Holiday has also shown that she can travel well with her canine friends. She doesn't like enclosed spaces, so a crate isn't suitable for her, but she travelled beautifully in the van with her friends using double seatbelts. She was a very good girl throughout her trip back to the centre, where she also had a lovely haircut and her vaccinations. Holiday will still be looking for a calm, quiet, adult-only home with no visiting children. She will need adopters who are experienced with scared ex-breeding dogs and who are happy to continue building her confidence at her own pace. She relies heavily on other dogs for comfort and reassurance and would definitely like a home with more than one kind and confident resident dog to help guide her. Minus her brief adoption, Holiday had never lived in a home before, but she has settled brilliantly into foster care and has established a lovely routine. She is now mostly clean in the house and has only had one overnight accident when she had a poorly tummy. She absolutely adores the other dogs and takes great comfort from having her canine friends around her. Holiday is a very special little girl who has already come such a long way. She is learning that people can be kind and that home life can be fun, and it is wonderful to see her confidence growing. She still has a journey ahead of her, but with patient and experienced adopters, plenty of understanding and the support of her canine friends, we hope she will continue to blossom and enjoy everything her new life has to offer. Holiday has a Grade 1 heart murmur. This doesn't require any medication at the moment but is something her adopters and their vet will need to monitor going forwards. This dog can be homed with a resident dog.
