Isadora is een twee- tot driejarige middelgrote kruisbried. Isadora werd opgenomen in het openbare dierenasiel van Botosani in Roemenië, samen met een onherinnerbaar aantal broers en zussen, toen ze nog een baby was. Ze is een voorbeeld van waarom we zo hard werken om alle pups eruit te halen terwijl ze nog pups zijn. Ze groeide daar op, doorbracht haar jeugd daar, zonder ooit de buitenkant van haar betonnen hok te zien. Ze miste de lach en de onbezorgde houding van haar jeugd omdat ze zich bezighield met het overleven. Toen we haar ontmoetten op twee jaar had ze geleerd om voorzichtig te zijn met sommige mensen en had ze niet veel ervaring met het gevoel van gras onder haar voeten. Ze kwam hier een paar weken geleden en moest alles opnieuw leren. Zoals je kunt zien aan haar foto's heeft de meisje goed geleerd en is ze vrij snel geworden! Ze is nu een schertsfiguur die durft om voorop te gaan in de groep in haar tijdelijke thuis. Ze is de aankoper van de meeste spelletjes, probeert onze taart te pakken wanneer we een koffiepauze hebben (zonde), en is algemeen nieuwsgierig naar alles. Isadora houdt van de nabijheid van ons, ze wordt zo blij als iemand komt en bopt ze hen met haar neus, maar ze is nog steeds erg gespannen bij aaien en probeert elke poging tot liefde en aandacht om te zetten in een ander spel. Het liefdevolle gedeelte komt met de tijd en is iets dat ze kan leren in de eerste weken en maanden in haar eindhuis. Ze zal een geduldige en begrijpende adoptant nodig hebben met minstens één andere hond die haar speelsheid en energie kan matchen. Ze wint vertrouwen op wandelingen en we zullen natuurlijk haar leidingstraining voortzetten terwijl ze bij ons is. Maar ze is klaar om verder te gaan en haar ontwikkeling en groei voort te zetten in het milieu dat ze de rest van haar leven zal doorbrengen. Isadora zal een ervaren adoptant nodig hebben die alles begrijpt wat ze in haar vroege leven is misgelopen. Ze zal geduld en begeleiding nodig hebben, maar toont al hoe goed ze zal worden als haar laatste angsten overwonnen zijn. Ze kan wonen met respectvolle kinderen van twaalf of ouder. Deze hond heeft hun kattest gehaald, dus kan leven met hondkundige katten. Isadora werd verzorgd door Norwich Norfolk. Als je geïnteresseerd bent, stuur dan een bericht of bel tussen 9 uur en 17 uur van maandag tot vrijdag of tussen 9 uur en 16 uur op zaterdag. Adoptiekosten: Vanaf 1 december 2025 zijn pups die al gesteriliseerd zijn en alle volwassen honden: £430. Ongesteriliseerde pups met een spay/neuter contract: £530 (je krijgt een terugbetaling van £100 zodra je ons bewijs van sterilisatie stuurt). Oudere honden (10+ jaar): £150–£250 (afhankelijk van leeftijd en individuele behoeften). Adoptiebeleid Bij het adopteren van een hond van Safe Rescue moet je altijd een slipleiband gebruiken. Dit houdt je hond veilig: je nieuwe hond is nerveus en vertrouwt je niet, en je weet niet welke situaties je hond kunnen storen. Als je hond in paniek raakt, is een slipleiband de enige manier om te voorkomen dat je hond ontsnapt (veel honden kunnen ontsnappen uit een halsband en/of riem). Het zal ten minste 3-6 maanden duren voordat je hond zich heeft ingevoegd en jij je hond volledig kent (langer voor nervieuze honden). De slipleiband moet gedurende deze periode altijd gebruikt worden. Ook na het inwonen is het veiliger om de slipleiband te gebruiken in situaties waarin je hond misschien bang kan worden (bijvoorbeeld bij bezoeken aan nieuwe plaatsen, rond onbekende mensen, bij de dierenarts), en in situaties waar onverwachte triggers kunnen optreden (bijvoorbeeld rond vuurwerk). Nervieuze honden moeten mogelijk altijd een slipleiband dragen als back-up veiligheidsmaatregel. De slipleiband is een veiligheidsapparaat en mag nooit gebruikt worden als trainingssysteem. Het gebruik van de leiband om druk uit te oefenen op de hond’s hals is schadelijk. Als je hond aan de leiband trekt, kunnen we je adviseren over trainingstechnieken die geen schade veroorzaken. Zodra je hond zich heeft ingevoegd, kun je overwegen om een halsband (tezamen met de slipleiband) te gebruiken, mits je hond comfortabel is met het vastgesnoeide apparaat. De meeste halsbanden zijn niet ontsnappingsbestendig, maar halsbanden met een band achter de ribben (zoals Ruffwear Webmaster of Perfect Fit Halsbanden) zijn veiliger. Retractabele/uitrekbare leibandjes mogen nooit gebruikt worden op onze honden. Geadopteerde honden moeten opgehaald worden van het dierenasiel en direct naar huis gebracht worden in een kooi. Heinen en poorten moeten minstens 1,5 meter hoog en veilig zijn. Alle honden zijn gevacificeerd, gemicrochipt en gesteriliseerd (tenzij de hond te jong is om te laten steriliseren). Isadora is a two to three year old medium sized crossbreed. Isadora was taken into the Botosani public shelter in Romania, along with an unremembered number of siblings, when she was just a baby. She is an example of why we work so hard to get all pups out while they are still pups. She grew up there, spent her adolescence there, never seeing the outside of her concrete pen. She missed out on the silliness and care free attitude of youth because she was concentrating on staying alive. When we met her at two years old she had learnt to be cautious of some people and she hadn’t experienced as much as the feeling of grass under her feet. She arrived here a few weeks ago and she had to learn it all from scratch. As you can see from her pics, the girl has learnt well and she has learnt pretty fast! She is now a cheeky character who dares to push herself forward in the pack in her foster home. She is the instigator of most of the games, she tries to take our cake when we have a coffee break (cardinal sin) and she is generally curious about everything. Isadora loves to be around us, she will get so excited when anyone comes round and she will boop them with her nose, but she is still very tense when stroked and will try to change any attempts of love and affection into another game. The loving bit will come with time and it’s something she can learn over the first weeks and months in her forever home. She will need a patient and understanding adopter with at least one other dog that will match her playfulness and energy. She is gaining confidence on walks and we will, of course, continue her lead training while she’s with us. But she is ready to move on now and continue her development and growth in the environment she gets to spend the rest of her life in. Isadora will need an experienced adopter who will understand all that she was deprived of in her early life. She will need patience and guidance but is already showing how great she will be once her last fears are overcome. She could live with respectful children aged twelve plus. This will keep your dog safe: your new dog will be nervous and will not trust you, and you will not know which situations might upset your dog. If your dog panics, then a slip lead is the only way to prevent your dog from escaping (many dogs can escape from a collar and/or harness). It will take AT LEAST 3-6 months for your dog to settle-in and for you to know your dog fully (longer for nervous dogs). The slip lead must ALWAYS be used during this settling-in period. Even after your dog is settled, it is safest to use the slip lead in situations where your dog may become scared (e.g. visiting new places, around unfamiliar people, at the vet), and it situations where unexpected triggers might happen (e.g. around bonfire night). Nervous dogs may always need to wear a slip-lead as a back-up safety measure. The slip lead is a safety device and must NEVER be used as a training tool. Using the lead to apply pressure to the dog’s neck is damaging. If your dog pulls on the lead, then we can advise you on training methods that avoid harm. Once your dog is settled, you may want to consider using a harness (together with the slip lead) if your dog is comfortable with being handled when it is fitted. Most harnesses are not escape-proof, but harnesses with a strap behind the ribcage (e.g. Ruffwear Webmaster or Perfect Fit Harnesses) are safer.
