Jenkins is onlangs bij ons opgenomen uit de Botosani openbare dierenasiel in Roemenië. Jenkins is een super vriendelijke jongen die iedereen liefheeft. Hij houdt van wandelingen en veel knuffels. Hij kan met een vrouwtje hond leven, maar zou ook heel gelukkig zijn als de enige hond in het huis. Hij kan met respectvolle, hondbewuste kinderen van 5+ leven. Adoptiekosten zijn Puppies al gesteriliseerd en alle volwassen honden: £430. Ongesteriliseerde puppies onder een castratiecontract: £530 (u ontvangt een korting van £100 zodra u ons bewijs van sterilisatie stuurt). Oudere honden (10+ jaren): £150–£250 (afhankelijk van leeftijd en individuele behoeften). ADOPTIE VOORWAARDEN Bij het adopteren van een Safe Rescue hond MOET u een slipleash gebruiken. Dit houdt uw hond veilig: uw nieuwe hond zal nerveus zijn en u niet vertrouwen, en u weet niet welke situaties uw hond mogelijk kunnen ontmoedigen. Als uw hond in paniek raakt, is een slipleash de enige manier om te voorkomen dat uw hond ontsnapt (veel honden kunnen ontsnappen uit een halsband en/of riem). Het duurt MINSTENS 3-6 maanden voordat uw hond zich heeft ingeworteld en u uw hond volledig kent (langer voor nervouse honden). De slipleash moet TOTAAL tijdens deze inwoningperiode worden gebruikt. Zelfs nadat uw hond zich heeft ingeworteld, is het veiligst om de slipleash te gebruiken in situaties waarin uw hond misschien bang wordt (bijvoorbeeld bezoeken aan nieuwe plekken, rond onbekende mensen, bij de dierenarts), en in situaties waar onverwachte triggers kunnen optreden (bijvoorbeeld rond vuurwerkavonden). Nervouse honden moeten altijd een slipleash dragen als back-up veiligheidsmaatregel. De slipleash is een veiligheidsapparaat en mag NOOIT als oefengereedschap worden gebruikt. Het gebruik van de leash om druk uit te oefenen op de hond's nek is schadelijk. Indien uw hond aan de leash trekt, kunnen wij u adviseren over trainingstechnieken die geen schade veroorzaken. Nadat uw hond zich heeft ingeworteld, kunt u overwegen een halsband (tezamen met de slipleash) te gebruiken als uw hond comfortabel is met het passeren van de halsband. Meeste halsbanden zijn niet ontsnappingsbestendig, maar halsbanden met een band achter de ribben (bijv. Ruffwear Webmaster of Perfect Fit Halsbanden) zijn veiliger. Retractabele / uitbreidbare leashes mogen nooit worden gebruikt op onze honden. Geadopteerde honden moeten afgehaald worden bij de redding en direct naar huis vervoerd worden in een beveiligde metalen kist. Heinen en poorten moeten minimaal 5 voet hoog en veilig zijn. Senior dogs (10+ years): £150–£250 (depending on age and individual needs). When you adopt a Safe Rescue dog, you MUST use a slip lead. This will keep your dog safe: your new dog will be nervous and will not trust you, and you will not know which situations might upset your dog. If your dog panics, then a slip lead is the only way to prevent your dog from escaping (many dogs can escape from a collar and/or harness). It will take AT LEAST 3-6 months for your dog to settle-in and for you to know your dog fully (longer for nervous dogs). The slip lead must ALWAYS be used during this settling-in period. Even after your dog is settled, it is safest to use the slip lead in situations where your dog may become scared (e.g. visiting new places, around unfamiliar people, at the vet), and it situations where unexpected triggers might happen (e.g. around bonfire night). Nervous dogs may always need to wear a slip-lead as a back-up safety measure. The slip lead is a safety device and must NEVER be used as a training tool. Using the lead to apply pressure to the dog’s neck is damaging. If your dog pulls on the lead, then we can advise you on training methods that avoid harm. Once your dog is settled, you may want to consider using a harness (together with the slip lead) if your dog is comfortable with being handled when it is fitted. Most harnesses are not escape-proof, but harnesses with a strap behind the ribcage (e.g. Ruffwear Webmaster or Perfect Fit Harnesses) are safer. Retractable / extendable leads must never be used on our dogs. Adopted dogs must be collected from the rescue and transported straight home in a secure metal crate. Fences and gates must be 5foot minimum in height and secure.

Jenkins has come into our care recently from the Botosani public shelter in Romania. Jenkins is a quirky boy who forms strong bonds with his “person”. If he was a human I guess he would be classed as a little OCD which can lead to some peculiar behaviours. He is somewhat oblivious to the concept of personal space and can be a trip hazard around the home due to always having to be “right there”. He is currently living alongside other dogs in his foster home and will play happily with the pack. As a creature of habit he can become unsettled when new dogs come into the home and over stimulated when things get chaotic and therefore a quiet and steady how with little coming and going would suits his needs best. As time passes he is becoming more relaxed, he is an extremely loving and affectionate boy who would be great company for a single person or couple.
