Maggie is een klein tot matig groot kruisbried van ongeveer 8 jaar oud. Maggie kwam bij ons vanaf de openbare dierenasiel Botosani in Roemenië. Ze had er bijna haar hele leven doorgebracht en haar bestaan op die slechte plek had haar afgesloten gemaakt en bang gemaakt voor mensen. Het heeft lang geduurd, maar Maggie is nu een ondeugende en zelfverzekerde meisje in haar tijdelijke thuis. Ze is nog steeds bang voor mensen die ze niet kent, maar voelt zich comfortabel met het aanraken en verzorgen van mensen die ze kent. Ze vraagt nog niet om veel aandacht, maar dat zal later komen in een meer persoonlijk omgeving. Maggie heeft katten ontmoet en was ermee in orde. Maggie heeft een huis nodig dat ervaring heeft met nerveuze honden. Ze geniet nu van haar wandelingen en zou graag een actieve bewegingsroutine hebben. Het is essentieel dat Maggie met minstens één andere hond woont, dus stuur alstublieft geen sollicitatie indien u geen hond volledig tijdens uw thuiskomst hebt. Maggie kon het lawaai en onvoorspelbaarheid van kleine kinderen niet verdragen, maar zou oké zijn met kinderen die goed met honden kunnen omgaan vanaf 10 jaar en ouder. Maggie heeft onlangs interesse getoond in speelgoed en geniet van het kauwen op een nylabone, dit was zo fijn om te zien. Ze is een grote liefhebber van eten en als de lekkernijen komen of het avondeten wordt klaargemaakt, gaat ze naar voren en blaft, eist haar eigen. Maggie gaat vaak naar een afgesloten veld waar ze kan rennen zonder leiband. Ze stopt er eerder alleen, maar nu vindt ze het leuk om bij de groep te blijven, behalve als ze iets interessants vindt om te ruiken. Helaas had Maggie een ruzie met een andere inwonerhond in haar geadopteerde huis en dit heeft anderen ertoe gebracht om geweldzaam gedrag ten opzichte van Maggie te vertonen en ze wordt regelmatig belaagd, wat haar veel stress oplevert. Ze heeft ergens een gezellige hondvriend nodig waar ze haar vertrouwen in haar mens kan opbouwen in haar eigen tempo. Deze hond heeft hun kattest gehaald, dus kan met hondvaardige katten leven. Maggie werd geadopteerd in Norwich Norfolk. Als u geïnteresseerd bent, stuur dan een bericht of bel tussen 9:00 en 17:00 uur maandag tot vrijdag of tussen 9:00 en 16:00 uur zaterdag. Adoptiekosten vanaf 1 december 2025 zijn: Puppies die al gesteriliseerd zijn en alle volwassen honden: £430. Niet-gesteriliseerde puppies met een kassatiecontract: £530 (U krijgt een terugbetaling van £100 wanneer u ons bewijs van sterilisatie stuurt). Oudere honden (10+ jaren): £150–£250 (afhankelijk van leeftijd en individuele behoeften). Adoptiebeleid Wanneer u een hond van Safe Rescue adopteert, moet u een sliplead gebruiken. Dit houdt uw hond veilig: uw nieuwe hond is nerveus en vertrouwt u niet, en u weet niet welke situaties uw hond mogelijk beledigen. Als uw hond in paniek raakt, is een sliplead de enige manier om te voorkomen dat uw hond ontsnapt (veel honden kunnen ontsnappen uit een halsband en/of vest). Het duurt AT MINST 3-6 maanden voor uw hond zich kan settelen en u uw hond volledig kent (langer voor nervieuze honden). De sliplead moet ALTID gebruikt worden tijdens deze inzetperiode. Zelfs na het inzetten van uw hond is het veiligst om de sliplead te gebruiken in situaties waarin uw hond misschien bang wordt (bijvoorbeeld bij bezoeken aan nieuwe plaatsen, rond onbekende mensen, bij de dierenarts), en situaties waar onverwachte triggers kunnen optreden (bijvoorbeeld rond vuurwerk). Nervieuze honden moeten altijd een sliplead dragen als backup veiligheidsmaatregel. De sliplead is een veiligheidsapparaat en mag NOOIT gebruikt worden als trainingstool. Het gebruik van de leiband om druk uit te oefenen op de hond's nek is schadelijk. Als uw hond aan de leiband trekt, kunnen wij u adviseren over trainingstechnieken die schade vermijden. Zodra uw hond zich heeft ingezet, kunt u overwegen om een vest (tezamen met de sliplead) te gebruiken, als uw hond comfortabel is met het aanraken terwijl het is vastgemaakt. De meeste vesten zijn niet ontsnappingsbestendig, maar vesten met een band achter de ribben (zoals Ruffwear Webmaster of Perfect Fit Harnesses) zijn veiliger. Maggie is a small to medium sized crossbreed of around 8 years old.Maggie came to us from the Botosani public shelter in Romania. She had been in there almost all her life and her existence in the dire place had left her shut down and afraid of humans. It’s taken a long time but Maggie is now a cheeky and confident girl in her foster home. She is still afraid of people she doesn’t know but is comfortable being touched and groomed by those she knows. She is not yet asking for fuss and attention but this will come later in a more one to one environment. Maggie has met cats and was fine with them. Maggie needs a home experienced with nervous dogs. She is enjoying her walks now and would like quite an active exercise routine. It is essential that Maggie lives with at least one other dog so please do not apply unless you have a dog full time in your home. Maggie could not cope with the noise and unpredictability of small children but would be ok with dog savvy children of ten plus. Maggie has recently started showing an interest in toys and enjoys chewing on a nylabone, this has been so lovely to see. She is a massive lover of food and when the treats come out or dinner is being prepared she will push her way to the front and bark, demanding hers. Maggie often goes to an enclosed field where she can run around off lead. She used to spend her time at these by herself but now likes to stick with the group, only falling behind if she’s found something good to sniff. Unfortunately Maggie had a falling out with another resident dog in her adopted home and this has caused others to initiate bullying behaviour towards Maggie and she is regularly picked on, causing her a lot of stress on a daily basis. She needs somewhere with a nice doggy friend where she can gain confidence with her humans in her own time. This dog has passed their cat testing so can live with dog savvy cats. Un-neutered puppies on spay/neuter contracts: £530 (You will receive a £100 rebate once you send us proof of neutering). Senior dogs (10+ years): £150–£250 (depending on age and individual needs). Adoption Policy When you adopt a Safe Rescue dog, you MUST use a slip lead. This will keep your dog safe: your new dog will be nervous and will not trust you, and you will not know which situations might upset your dog. If your dog panics, then a slip lead is the only way to prevent your dog from escaping (many dogs can escape from a collar and/or harness). It will take AT LEAST 3-6 months for your dog to settle-in and for you to know your dog fully (longer for nervous dogs). The slip lead must ALWAYS be used during this settling-in period. Even after your dog is settled, it is safest to use the slip lead in situations where your dog may become scared (e.g. visiting new places, around unfamiliar people, at the vet), and it situations where unexpected triggers might happen (e.g. around bonfire night). Nervous dogs may always need to wear a slip-lead as a back-up safety measure. The slip lead is a safety device and must NEVER be used as a training tool. Using the lead to apply pressure to the dog’s neck is damaging. If your dog pulls on the lead, then we can advise you on training methods that avoid harm. Once your dog is settled, you may want to consider using a harness (together with the slip lead) if your dog is comfortable with being handled when it is fitted. Most harnesses are not escape-proof, but harnesses with a strap behind the ribcage (e.g. Ruffwear Webmaster or Perfect Fit Harnesses) are safer. Retractable / extendable leads must never be used on our dogs. Adopted dogs must be collected from the rescue and transported straight home in a crate. Fences and gates must be 5ft min & secure. All dogs are vaccinated, microchipped and neutered (unless the dog is too young to be neutered).
