Maggie è un incrocio di piccole e medie dimensioni di circa 8 anni. Maggie è arrivata da noi dal rifugio pubblico di Botosani in Romania. Era lì quasi tutta la sua vita e la sua esistenza in quel luogo terribile l'ha resa chiusa e spaventata dagli umani. È passato molto tempo ma Maggie ora è una ragazza vivace e sicura nel suo ambiente protettivo. Ha ancora paura delle persone che non conosce, ma è a suo agio quando toccata e pettinata da quelle che conosce. Non chiede ancora attenzioni e coccole, ma questo arriverà in seguito in un ambiente più privato. Maggie ha conosciuto i gatti ed è andata bene con loro. Maggie necessita di una casa esperta con cani nervosi. Le piacciono le sue passeggiate e vorrebbe un programma di esercizio abbastanza attivo. È essenziale che Maggie viva con almeno un altro cane, quindi non inviate la vostra candidatura se non avete un cane tutto il tempo in casa vostra. Maggie non riuscirebbe a gestire il rumore e l'imprevedibilità dei bambini piccoli, ma sarebbe ok con bambini esperti con i cani di età superiore ai dieci anni. Maggie ha recentemente iniziato a mostrare interesse per i giochi e gode nel mordere un nylabone, è stato così bello da vedere. È una grande amante del cibo e quando escono le ricette o si prepara la cena si spinge in avanti e abbaiando richiede la sua parte. Maggie va spesso in un campo recintato dove può correre senza guinzaglio. Prima passava il tempo lì da sola, ma ora preferisce stare con il gruppo, rimanendo indietro solo se trova qualcosa di buono da annusare. Purtroppo Maggie ha avuto un litigio con un altro cane residente nella sua casa adottiva e questo ha causato comportamenti di bullismo verso Maggie e viene regolarmente presa in giro, causandole molta stress quotidianamente. Ha bisogno di un posto con un amichevole compagno canino dove possa acquisire fiducia con i suoi umani nel proprio tempo. Questo cane ha superato il test con i gatti, quindi può convivere con gatti esperti con i cani. Maggie è stata in affidamento a Norwich Norfolk. Se sei interessato, invia un messaggio o chiama tra le 9:00 e le 17:00 da lunedì a venerdì o tra le 9:00 e le 16:00 sabato. Tariffe di donazione per l'adozione Dal 1° dicembre 2025: cuccioli già sterilizzati e tutti i cani adulti: £430. Cuccioli non sterilizzati con contratti di sterilizzazione: £530 (riceverai un rimborso di £100 una volta che ci invierai la prova della sterilizzazione). Cani anziani (10+ anni): £150–£250 (in base all'età e alle esigenze individuali). Politica di adozione Quando adotti un cane di Safe Rescue, devi usare obbligatoriamente un guinzaglio a scatto. Questo terrà il tuo cane al sicuro: il tuo nuovo cane sarà nervoso e non ti farà fiducia, non saprai quali situazioni potrebbero disturbare il cane. Se il cane si spaventa, il guinzaglio a scatto è l'unico modo per evitare che scappi (molti cani riescono a scappare dal collare e/o dalla pettorina). Ci vorranno almeno 3-6 mesi perché il cane si abitui e tu lo conosca pienamente (più a lungo per i cani nervosi). Il guinzaglio a scatto deve essere sempre utilizzato durante il periodo di abituamento. Anche dopo che il cane si è abituato, è più sicuro utilizzare il guinzaglio a scatto in situazioni in cui il cane potrebbe spaventarsi (es. visitare nuovi luoghi, intorno a persone sconosciute, dal veterinario) e in situazioni in cui potrebbero verificarsi trigger imprevisti (es. intorno al 5 novembre). I cani nervosi potrebbero sempre dover indossare un guinzaglio a scatto come misura di sicurezza aggiuntiva. Il guinzaglio a scatto è un dispositivo di sicurezza e non deve mai essere utilizzato come strumento di addestramento. Usare il guinzaglio per applicare pressione sul collo del cane è dannoso. Se il tuo cane tira il guinzaglio, possiamo consigliarti metodi di addestramento che evitino danni. Una volta che il cane si è abituato, puoi considerare l'utilizzo di una pettorina (insieme al guinzaglio a scatto) se il cane è comodo quando è fissata. Maggie is a small to medium sized crossbreed of around 8 years old.Maggie came to us from the Botosani public shelter in Romania. She had been in there almost all her life and her existence in the dire place had left her shut down and afraid of humans. It’s taken a long time but Maggie is now a cheeky and confident girl in her foster home. She is still afraid of people she doesn’t know but is comfortable being touched and groomed by those she knows. She is not yet asking for fuss and attention but this will come later in a more one to one environment. Maggie has met cats and was fine with them. Maggie needs a home experienced with nervous dogs. She is enjoying her walks now and would like quite an active exercise routine. It is essential that Maggie lives with at least one other dog so please do not apply unless you have a dog full time in your home. Maggie could not cope with the noise and unpredictability of small children but would be ok with dog savvy children of ten plus. Maggie has recently started showing an interest in toys and enjoys chewing on a nylabone, this has been so lovely to see. She is a massive lover of food and when the treats come out or dinner is being prepared she will push her way to the front and bark, demanding hers. Maggie often goes to an enclosed field where she can run around off lead. She used to spend her time at these by herself but now likes to stick with the group, only falling behind if she’s found something good to sniff. Unfortunately Maggie had a falling out with another resident dog in her adopted home and this has caused others to initiate bullying behaviour towards Maggie and she is regularly picked on, causing her a lot of stress on a daily basis. She needs somewhere with a nice doggy friend where she can gain confidence with her humans in her own time. This dog has passed their cat testing so can live with dog savvy cats. Adoption Donation Fees From 1st Dec 2025 are Puppies already neutered and all adult dogs: £430. Un-neutered puppies on spay/neuter contracts: £530 (You will receive a £100 rebate once you send us proof of neutering). Senior dogs (10+ years): £150–£250 (depending on age and individual needs). Adoption Policy When you adopt a Safe Rescue dog, you MUST use a slip lead. This will keep your dog safe: your new dog will be nervous and will not trust you, and you will not know which situations might upset your dog. If your dog panics, then a slip lead is the only way to prevent your dog from escaping (many dogs can escape from a collar and/or harness). It will take AT LEAST 3-6 months for your dog to settle-in and for you to know your dog fully (longer for nervous dogs). The slip lead must ALWAYS be used during this settling-in period. Even after your dog is settled, it is safest to use the slip lead in situations where your dog may become scared (e.g. visiting new places, around unfamiliar people, at the vet), and it situations where unexpected triggers might happen (e.g. around bonfire night). Nervous dogs may always need to wear a slip-lead as a back-up safety measure. The slip lead is a safety device and must NEVER be used as a training tool. Using the lead to apply pressure to the dog’s neck is damaging. If your dog pulls on the lead, then we can advise you on training methods that avoid harm. Once your dog is settled, you may want to consider using a harness (together with the slip lead) if your dog is comfortable with being handled when it is fitted. Most harnesses are not escape-proof, but harnesses with a strap behind the ribcage (e.g. Ruffwear Webmaster or Perfect Fit Harnesses) are safer. Retractable / extendable leads must never be used on our dogs. Adopted dogs must be collected from the rescue and transported straight home in a crate. Fences and gates must be 5ft min & secure. All dogs are vaccinated, microchipped and neutered (unless the dog is too young to be neutered).
