Bailey og Ozzie er et bundet par av B&G Macaw. Ozzie er omtrent 30 år gammel og Bailey er 14 år gammel og DNA Mann. Historie/bakgrunn: Bailey og Ozzie kom inn i frivillighetsorganisasjonen i 2025. Aktuell tilstand: Bailey har veldig perfekte fjær. Ozzie er ganske slitt, spesielt hans hale. Trening: Vi jobber med det! Dette vil kreve en kontinuerlig prosess. Begge fuglene er godt oppført, de går vanligvis tilbake til kassen når du be mmer dem og setter maten sin i. Bailey er vanligvis først, så følger Ozzie. Du kan ikke håndtere noen av dem, de stiger ikke opp på hendene sine fordi de aldri har lært det. Ozzie vil alltid stige opp på en stav hvis du må flytte ham, men Bailey gjør det bare noen ganger. De vil begge ta belønninger forsiktig fra hånden din. Ozzie er mer skremt og holder seg tilbake, han liker å pufse seg og lune for å få deg til å gå bort. Bailey er definitivt mer utadvendt og villig til å lære. Han er lederen! Mat: Jentene får hakket/frisk grovfôr under dagen og Tidymix eller J&J lav solsikke/nøtter om kvelden. De elsker søte røde peanøtter og deres favorittnøtter er cashewnøtter og valnøtter. Ozzie spiser mer frisk mat enn Bailey, han er vanskeligere å overbevise. De trenger to bolle av alt, slik at de har hver sin. Likevel, noen ganger liker Bailey å tro at alt er hans! Forbedring: Ingen av fuglene er vant til å ha leketøy, og det var ingen passende percher i størrelse i kassen deres. De har nå leketøy og variasjon av percher. De bryr seg ikke om papirleketøy i kassen, men spiller ikke sære. De elsker rullett brune papir og revning av kartongbokser. Bailey liker å kaste kornbokser fra toppen av kassen, og han synes det er fantastisk! Bailey elsker også å ta dusj, Ozzie bryr seg ikke om det, men ikke like mye! Sammendrag: De er vakre fugler og har vært en glede å ha i hus. Jeg tror at med mye omsorg og tålmodighet vil de komme langt. Bailey spesielt fordi han er mye mer responsiv og villig til å lære og interagere med deg. De trenger en hjem som har en fast, selvsikker eier som er vant til store fugler. Disse guttene er ikke snudd, kjælelige fugler. De er glade ved å gjøre det de selv vil. De er vant til å være utenfor kassen hele dagen, sitte sammen og se verdens løp, eller svabe rundt gulvet, knekke kartong, følge hverandre som små dukker. De gjør alt sammen! Oz liker å løpe og jage fotene sine. Så pass på fotene dine! Bailey kan være ganske lurt, men ikke for ofte. Ozzie er stillere. Du hører ikke et lyd fra dem mellom kl. 20:00 og 8:00. Når du sier godnatt til dem sier de begge "heis, heis, heis" i samme øyeblikk som tvillinger. De er vant til å ha en kvinne som primære omsorgsperson nå. Begge av dem lar meg rengjøre kassen hver dag uten problemer, de liker å se etter at jeg gjør det rett. De vil gladelig sitte på sin lange perche eller på toppen av kassen mens jeg bytter papirer og tørker pinnen. Bailey elsker å vise seg og henge fra taket i kassen med munnen sin! Bailey and Ozzie are a bonded Pair of B&G Macaws. Ozzie is approximately 30 years old and Bailey is 14 years old and DNA Male. History/Background: Bailey and Ozzie came into the charity in 2025. Current Condition: Bailey has pretty perfect feathers. Ozzie is rather tatty especially his tail. Training: We are working on it! This will need to be an ongoing process. Both birds are well behaved, they usually go back to the cage when you ask them to and put their food in. Bailey is usually first then Ozzie follows. You can't handle either of them, they don't step up to hands as they never have never been taught. Ozzie will always step up on a stick if you need to move him, but Bailey only sometimes will. They will both take treats gently from your hand. Ozzie is a lot more nervous though and stays back, he likes to fluff up and lunge, to scare you off. Bailey is definitely more outgoing and willing to learn. He's the boss! Diet: The boys have chop/fresh veg during the day and Tidymix or J&J low Sunflower/nuts in the evenings. They love sweet red peppers and their favourite nuts are cashews and walnuts. Ozzie eats more fresh food than Bailey, he is harder to convince. They do need two bowls of everything, so they have one each. However sometimes Bailey likes to think that they are all his! Enrichment: Neither Bird is used to having toys, and there were no suitable size perches in their cage. They now have toys and a variety of perches. They don't mind parrot toys in the cage but do not really play with them. They enjoy scrunched up brown paper and shredding cardboard boxes. Bailey likes to throw cereal boxes from the top of the cage, and he thinks it's great! Bailey also loves a shower, Ozzie doesn't mind, but not as enthusiastic! Summary: They are beautiful birds and have been a pleasure to safe house. I believe with a lot of TLC and patience they will come along in leaps and bounds. Bailey especially as he is a lot more responsive and willing to learn and interact with you. They need a home with a firm, confident owner, who is used to big birds. These guys are not tame, cuddly birds. They are happy doing their own thing. They are used to being out of the cage all day, sitting together and watching the world go by, or waddling round the floor, chewing cardboard, following each other like little ducks. They do everything together! Oz does like to run and chase feet though. So watch your toes! Bailey can be quite loud, but not too often. Ozzie is quieter. You do not hear a peep out of them between 8pm and 8am. When you say night night to them they both say ‘hello, hello, hello!' in tandem like twins. They are used to having a female main carer at present. Both of them let me clean the cage everyday with no problems at all, they like watching to make sure I'm doing it right. They will happily sit on their long perch or on top of the cage while I change the papers and wipe down the bars. Bailey loves showing off and hanging from the roof of the cage by his beak!
