Bailey och Ozzie är ett bundet par av B&G Makawar. Ozzie är cirka 30 år gammal och Bailey är 14 år gammal och DNA-könsbestämd manlig. Historia/bakgrund: Bailey och Ozzie kom in i chariteten 2025. Nuvarande tillstånd: Bailey har ganska perfekta fjädrar. Ozzie är ganska trasig, särskilt hans stjärt. Träning: Vi jobbar med det! Detta kommer att behöva vara en kontinuerlig process. Båda fåglarna är välupptagna, de går vanligtvis till kassen när du ber dem och lägger ner maten. Bailey är alltid den första sedan Ozzie följer. Du kan inte hålla någon av dem, de stiger inte upp på händerna eftersom de aldrig har lärt sig det. Ozzie stiger upp på en stav om du behöver flytta honom, men Bailey gör det bara ibland. De tar båda gärna godis från din hand. Ozzie är mycket mer rädd och stannar bakåt, han gillar att puffa upp sig och hoppa fram för att skrämma dig. Bailey är definitivt mer utåtsträvande och vill lära sig. Han är chefen! Födan: Pojkarna får hackad/frisk grönsaker under dagen och Tidymix eller J&J låg solros/kottar på kvällen. De älskar söta röda pekoner och deras favoritkottar är valnötter och cashewkottar. Ozzie äter mer frisk mat än Bailey, han är svårare att övertyga. De behöver två skålar av allt, så de har var och en. Dock ibland tycker Bailey att allt är hans! Förnöjsamhet: Ingen fågel är vana vid leksaker, och det fanns inga lämpliga storleksstavar i deras bur. De har nu leksaker och olika stavar. De tycker inte om pratskägg i buran men spelar inte riktigt med dem. De gillar krullade bruna papper och sliter kartonglådor. Bailey gillar att kasta flingepackningar från toppen av buren och han tycker det är fantastiskt! Bailey älskar också duscha, Ozzie tycker inte sämre men inte lika entusiastiskt! Sammanfattning: De är vackra fåglar och har varit en glädje att ha i vårt hem. Jag tror att med mycket omsorg och tålamod kommer de att ta stora steg. Särskilt Bailey eftersom han är mycket mer responsiv och vill lära sig och interagera med dig. De behöver en hemma med en fast, självsäker ägare som är vän vid stora fåglar. Dessa killar är inte vänliga, kramiga fåglar. De är glada med att göra sina egna grejer. De är vana vid att vara utanför buren hela dagen, sitta tillsammans och se på världen passera, eller waddla runt golvet, kava på kartong, följa varandra som små myror. De gör allt tillsammans! Oz gillar att springa och jaga fötter. Så var försiktig med dina tår! Bailey kan vara ganska lös, men inte ofta. Ozzie är tystare. Du hör inte ett ljud av dem mellan 20:00 och 8:00. När du säger god natt till dem säger de båda "hej, hej, hej" samtidigt som tvillingar. De är vana vid att ha en kvinnlig huvudvårdare just nu. Båda av dem låter mig rengöra buren varje dag utan problem alls, de gillar att titta på att jag gör det rätt. De sitter gärna på sin långa stav eller på taket av buren medan jag byter papper och rengör balkarna. Bailey älskar att visa upp sig och hänga från burens tak med munnen! Bailey and Ozzie are a bonded Pair of B&G Macaws. Ozzie is approximately 30 years old and Bailey is 14 years old and DNA Male. History/Background: Bailey and Ozzie came into the charity in 2025. Current Condition: Bailey has pretty perfect feathers. Ozzie is rather tatty especially his tail. Training: We are working on it! This will need to be an ongoing process. Both birds are well behaved, they usually go back to the cage when you ask them to and put their food in. Bailey is usually first then Ozzie follows. You can't handle either of them, they don't step up to hands as they never have never been taught. Ozzie will always step up on a stick if you need to move him, but Bailey only sometimes will. They will both take treats gently from your hand. Ozzie is a lot more nervous though and stays back, he likes to fluff up and lunge, to scare you off. Bailey is definitely more outgoing and willing to learn. He's the boss! Diet: The boys have chop/fresh veg during the day and Tidymix or J&J low Sunflower/nuts in the evenings. They love sweet red peppers and their favourite nuts are cashews and walnuts. Ozzie eats more fresh food than Bailey, he is harder to convince. They do need two bowls of everything, so they have one each. However sometimes Bailey likes to think that they are all his! Enrichment: Neither Bird is used to having toys, and there were no suitable size perches in their cage. They now have toys and a variety of perches. They don't mind parrot toys in the cage but do not really play with them. They enjoy scrunched up brown paper and shredding cardboard boxes. Bailey likes to throw cereal boxes from the top of the cage, and he thinks it's great! Bailey also loves a shower, Ozzie doesn't mind, but not as enthusiastic! Summary: They are beautiful birds and have been a pleasure to safe house. I believe with a lot of TLC and patience they will come along in leaps and bounds. Bailey especially as he is a lot more responsive and willing to learn and interact with you. They need a home with a firm, confident owner, who is used to big birds. These guys are not tame, cuddly birds. They are happy doing their own thing. They are used to being out of the cage all day, sitting together and watching the world go by, or waddling round the floor, chewing cardboard, following each other like little ducks. They do everything together! Oz does like to run and chase feet though. So watch your toes! Bailey can be quite loud, but not too often. Ozzie is quieter. You do not hear a peep out of them between 8pm and 8am. When you say night night to them they both say ‘hello, hello, hello!' in tandem like twins. They are used to having a female main carer at present. Both of them let me clean the cage everyday with no problems at all, they like watching to make sure I'm doing it right. They will happily sit on their long perch or on top of the cage while I change the papers and wipe down the bars. Bailey loves showing off and hanging from the roof of the cage by his beak!
